Highlights
Dead by Daylight's latest DLC collaboration with the Alien franchise is a big success, showcasing the developer's passion and integrating the source material effectively.
Considering the positive reception of the Alien crossover, it appears fitting for Dead by Daylight's upcoming crossover to involve the Predator franchise. Given the close connection and similar level of fame between the two, the Predator would be an excellent choice as a new Killer character. This addition could come with unique special abilities, such as the ability to utilize ranged weapons and heat vision, along with a captivating map set in the lush Central American jungle.
Dead by Daylight has had a significant number of collaborations over the past six years, although not quite at the level of Fortnite. These collaborations have been largely of excellent quality. The first crossover Killer, Michael Myers, was a solid beginning, effectively integrating the source material with the game's mechanics. As time has passed, Dead by Daylight's crossovers have become increasingly ambitious, with the latest one being particularly noteworthy.
Recently released, the latest DLC for Dead by Daylight is a collaboration with the popular Alien franchise. This $12 DLC brings Ellen Ripley as a new Survivor and the Xenomorph as a new Killer, along with a new map that features the crash-landed Nostromo ship on an alien planet. With the addition of Alien content, it seems only fitting for Dead by Daylight to consider the next crossover with a major horror franchise.
Dead by Daylight's Next Crossover Should Be With The Predator
The crossover between the Alien and Predator franchises traces back to 1989 when the first ever Alien Vs. Predator comic book was published. This comic actually predates the second Predator movie, which was released in 1990, and even includes a hidden reference to a Xenomorph skull. Since then, these two beloved horror franchises have frequently intertwined, from the highly regarded PC video game series of the 1990s to the unfortunately underwhelming movie series of the early 2000s. Wherever Alien ventures, Predator is never far behind, making the latter an ideal choice for the next crossover in Dead by Daylight.
Although it is still early days—with the DLC only being launched on August 29—the Alien crossover in Dead by Daylight is truly impressive, showcasing the developer's genuine passion for the source material. Despite being slightly overpowered at present, the Xenomorph's abilities and perks seamlessly integrate the character into the multiplayer video game realm, paying homage to the source material while ensuring a functional and enjoyable experience for players.
It is only fair that Predator receives love as well. While the Predator franchise has had its share of failures, it has also enjoyed numerous successes and has garnered a fanbase comparable to that of Alien. Due to this popularity, Predator is the logical choice for a crossover with Dead by Daylight, and there is ample source material to draw inspiration from in order to create a Killer, Survivor, and a unique map for the franchise.
Naturally, if there were to be a potential Predator DLC for Dead by Daylight, the iconic Yautja hunter would take center stage as the main attraction. When it comes to assigning a special ability to the Predator Killer, there are numerous options that Dead by Daylight could consider. The Predator's special ability could revolve around the use of ranged weapons such as the Smart Disc, shoulder cannon, or Combistick.
The Predator should have the ability to utilize heat vision, similar to Rainbow Six Siege's Jackal, in order to track Survivor footprints. Ideally, the Survivor character accompanying the Predator would be Arnold Schwarzenegger's Dutch, although obtaining the rights to use the actor's likeness might pose a challenge for Behaviour. When selecting a map, the first Predator's Central American jungle would be the perfect choice. Dead by Daylight is accessible on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
