When it comes to her former flames, Olivia Rodrigo has no interest in rekindling any sparks.
The 20-year-old "Bad Idea Right?" singer was asked if she would ever consider reuniting with any of her exes during a video interview with Pitchfork on Tuesday, October 3. Without hesitation, she responded, "You guys, the sequel is never as good as the original." Rodrigo has been romantically linked to various celebrities since gaining fame on Disney Channel and Disney+'s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. Speculation is rife that her debut album, Sour, features the lead single "Driver's License," which is believed to be about her rumored ex, Joshua Bassett. The two supposedly dated in 2020 after meeting on the set of HSMTMTS, but they never publicly confirmed their relationship.
Rodrigo, along with her former costar Ethan Wacker from Bizaardvark, had a relationship with film producer Adam Faze, but they broke up in February 2022 after less than a year of dating. During that same month, there were rumors of a romance with DJ Zack Bia. However, a source confirmed in August 2022 that their relationship had fizzled out after six months. In a recent interview, Rodrigo expressed that experiencing heartbreak has shaped her into the person she is today and has influenced her songwriting. She believes it is an underrated aspect of personal growth.
The Grammy-winning artist has become renowned in the music industry for her skill in writing breakup songs. Some of her popular tunes include "Good 4 U," "Déja Vu," "Traitor," "Favorite Crime," and more. In her recent chart-topping hit "Vampire" from her second album "Guts" released in 2023, she seemingly confronts an ex-partner who has drained her emotionally and financially, likening them to a blood-sucking vampire.
In the song's second verse, she passionately sings, "Every girl I ever spoke to warned me about your detrimental ways / You dismissed them as crazy, and it frustrates me that I did the same / Your ability to deceive without displaying any sign of guilt is astounding."

Despite speculation from fans, Bia, 27, disagreed with the theory that the track is about him in a recent interview with GQ. In his own words, he stated, "I don't think it's really about me. I think the internet just ran with it."
Bia even suggested that the song's subject could be a combination of him and Rodrigo's past significant others. Being familiar with the music industry, Bia explained, "We hung out, we're both busy, and we ended up not pursuing a deeper relationship. There was never any drama, you know?"

Eager to leave her past relationships behind, Rodrigo is determined to find her soul mate. Expressing her aspirations to Vogue in July, she exclaimed, "I am longing to meet my future husband!" Additionally, she eagerly anticipates embracing motherhood in the future, exclaiming, "The thought of experiencing the joys of being a mother occupies my mind constantly."
