The Boys spin-off Gen V reveals that Homelander is currently undergoing trial for murdering a protester in favor of Starlight, despite Vought's attempts to spin it positively.
In Season 4, The Boys will need to devise a plan to win over Ryan, Homelander's son, and counteract his manipulation at the hands of Homelander, who has grown in power. Apart from providing additional content during the break, The Boys' meta propaganda serves as a distraction, but the main focus of Season 4 will be identifying a viable strategy to dismantle Homelander's dominance and Vought's control.
For those eagerly awaiting any shred of The Boys content after the explosive season 3 finale, your search stops here. Amazon Prime's spin-off, Gen V, provides a glimpse into the aftermath of Homelander (Antony Starr) during the off-season.
No one can deny that The Boys isn't complete without a final and devastating blow before the end credits. In the concluding moments of The Boys season 3, Homelander introduces his super-powered son, Ryan (Cameron Crovetti), to a crowd of devoted followers. Amidst the crowd, a fan of Starlight (Erin Moriarty) emerges. In classic Homelander fashion, he unleashes his laser beam eyes, striking the protester square in the face. But instead of horror, the entire crowd – including Ryan – rallies behind the murderer.
It will be a while before fans get to see The Boys season 4, but in the premiere of Gen V, some clues were provided about the status of The Seven's leader. According to GamesRadar+, there was a brief moment in Gen V episode 1 where a news snippet revealed that Homelander was currently facing trial for the murder of the protestor in favor of Starlight. One report began with the phrase, "After brutally murdering an innocent protester..." but was quickly cut off.
Vought International firmly opposes the notion that the protestor is innocent. Always striving to portray The Seven in a positive light, Vought's PR department wasted no time in revising history. The CEO of Vought International, Ashley Barrett (played by Colby Minifie), made a statement on their YouTube channel, an extension of the Vought News Network, assuring supporters that they fully supported Homelander.
Barrett addressed the camera, saying, "In the upcoming months, Homelander will face trial for saving his son from a violent criminal who was infatuated with Starlight." This type of meta propaganda, released by The Boys, remains consistently impressive and serves as additional content during the series' hiatus. Naturally, Vought would never acknowledge that Homelander ruthlessly killed an innocent civilian without remorse.
The main dilemma that The Boys season 4 will have to confront is that Homelander will return more powerful than ever, despite Starr's belief in his weakness. A viable solution to effectively eliminate Homelander has not yet been discovered, leaving Vought just as subservient to him as anyone else.
Utilizing his son as a strategic ploy against Homelander is a well-known tactic among comic book enthusiasts. However, the recent developments of The Boys season 3 suggest that Ryan is also a lost soul. With the loss of his mother and the rejection he experienced from Butcher (Karl Urban), Ryan found himself with no one to rely on except his biological father. Witnessing the true extent of The Seven's leader's capabilities and becoming desensitized to violence, Homelander has successfully manipulated Ryan to his side. In order to eliminate Homelander once and for all, The Boys season 4 will likely need to devise a plan to align Ryan with their cause.
New episodes of Gen V are released every Friday exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
