Warning! This article contains spoilers for Ahsoka episode 8.
Summary
During the Ahsoka finale, Ahsoka engages in a duel against Morgan Elsbeth, resulting in the destruction of one of her lightsabers. Consequently, she is left with only one lightsaber to continue the fight.
Furthermore, it is suggested that Ahsoka might consider substituting her damaged lightsaber with a staff, as foreshadowed in the Star Wars Rebels epilogue and her profound connection to the Force on Peridea.
Ahsoka's transformation into Ahsoka the White signifies her newfound wisdom, strength, and authority as she potentially discards her lightsabers and fully embraces the Force as her closest companion.
In the finale of Ahsoka, it is revealed that Ahsoka Tano has lost one of her lightsabers, but Star Wars has already introduced a replacement. During an intense lightsaber duel aimed at preventing Grand Admiral Thrawn's comeback to the prime galaxy, Ahsoka, along with Sabine Wren and Ezra Bridger, infiltrated the Nightsisters' fortress on Peridea. Within the fortress, they encountered various obstacles, including an enhanced version of Morgan Elsbeth. In recognition of Morgan's contributions in their journey back home, the Great Mothers bestowed upon her a gift consisting of enhanced dark magic and a formidable sword called the Blade of Talzin.
The duel between Ahsoka and Morgan in The Mandalorian season 2 was a thrilling reprise of their previous fight. It showcased one of Ahsoka's most exhilarating battles yet as she clashed head-to-head with Morgan. What made it particularly captivating was the realization that even for someone as skilled as Ahsoka, Morgan proved to be a formidable opponent. In a shocking twist, Morgan managed to sever one of Ahsoka's lightsaber hilts - specifically, the shorter shoto-style one - dividing it into two halves. This resulted in Ahsoka having to rely on just one lightsaber to continue the fight. Despite Morgan's relentless efforts, Ahsoka ultimately emerges victorious, triumphing over her adversary. However, with the loss of one of her cherished weapons, the question remains - what course of action will Ahsoka pursue now?
Star Wars Rebels Revealed Ahsoka Will Replace Her Broken Lightsaber With A Staff
Will The Ahsoka The White Transformation Mean No More Lightsabers?
Although the Ahsoka finale establishes the possibility for Ahsoka to rebuild her lost lightsaber using the equipment on their ship, which Huyang has stored on board, it is uncertain whether she will choose to do so. In the slightly retconned Star Wars Rebels epilogue, Ahsoka meets Sabine on Lothal wearing a magnificent white robe and carrying a simple yet elegant white staff. The Ahsoka show has officially portrayed Ahsoka's transformation into Ahsoka the White following her experience in the World Between Worlds, but the staff has not yet been seen. Since one of Ahsoka's lightsabers has been destroyed and she and Sabine are stranded on Peridea, it is possible that she might indeed create the new staff, using it as a replacement for her second lightsaber.
Ahsoka's journey in the Ahsoka show has transformed her in numerous ways. Within the World Between Worlds, she made a crucial decision to embrace life, reconcile with her past, and embrace her future. Stranded on Peridea, a realm intricately linked to the Force, exemplified by the awe-inspiring abilities of the Great Mothers, the presence of Mortis gods' statues, and the enigmatic appearance of Morai, a convor resembling an owl. It is conceivable that Ahsoka's time on Peridea will further inspire profound changes within her. By forging a fresh connection with the Force in this extraordinary realm, Ahsoka may opt to transcend her current identity as a Ronin or a Jedi. The possibility even exists that she might relinquish her lightsabers entirely, wholly embracing the Force as her ultimate ally.
In the epilogue of Star Wars Rebels, there is no indication that Ahsoka still carries her lightsabers. Her transformation into Ahsoka the White serves as a symbol of her newfound wisdom, strength, authority, and compassion, similar to Gandalf's journey in The Lord of the Rings. Ahsoka doesn't necessarily require her lightsabers to be a leader and protect the galaxy. These weapons are used for close combat, but Ahsoka can achieve more without them. The foreshadowing of Ahsoka's transformation occurred when the Daughter, a conduit for the light side of the Force, sacrificed herself so that Ahsoka could live in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Now, following the conclusion of Ahsoka, she possesses all the necessary tools to embrace her true purpose. Stream all episodes of Ahsoka on Disney+.
