Kick is challenging Twitch's dominance in the streaming industry by acquiring well-known streamers and offering more relaxed community guidelines.
Nickmercs, a renowned streamer, has entered into a non-exclusive agreement worth $10 million with Kick in order to grow his community and reach a broader audience.
Kick's impressive expansion and achievements can be credited to its exceptional methods of attracting content creators and continuous enhancements to the platform with innovative features, all while Twitch seems uninterested.
In a remarkable development in the streaming industry, Nickmercs, a well-known competitive gamer and Twitch streamer, has recently signed a lucrative deal with Kick, a streaming platform that entered the market less than a year ago. Kick has been strategically acquiring popular streamers in an effort to challenge the dominance of Amazon-owned Twitch.
Undoubtedly, Twitch has firmly established itself as the leading streaming platform, making it a difficult competitor to overcome. Other platforms, such as Mixer and Facebook Gaming, have tried to establish themselves as rivals to Twitch but have struggled to make a lasting impact. However, Kick has been making significant progress, thanks to its robust Creator Program and more relaxed community guidelines, which set it apart from Twitch. Moreover, Kick continues to make headlines by securing partnerships with renowned streamers, including the recent signing of one of Twitch's most-watched female streamers.
Nicholas "NICKMERCS" Kolcheff, a prominent figure in the streaming community and co-owner of FaZe Clan, has recently entered into a non-exclusive agreement with Kick. This unique deal allows NICKMERCS to stream on both Twitch and Kick, setting it apart from other contracts. Forbes estimates that this one-year contract is worth $10 million. NICKMERCS has expressed his primary goal of building a strong community, and by joining Kick.com, he hopes to reach new audiences and attract more fans to the MFAM community. He is also excited about future plans, such as participating in major competitions, hosting significant events, and delivering innovative content.
Although it is unclear which major streamer might join Kick next, the signing of Nickmercs is undoubtedly significant. With a substantial following on various social media platforms, including over 6.7 million Twitch followers and more than 4 million YouTube subscribers, Nickmercs is expected to contribute to Kick's growth and expand its user base.
Kick's growth is a result of its distinctive strategies to attract content creators and ongoing initiatives to improve the platform with new features. It is noteworthy that Twitch remains unperturbed by Kick's significant investments in signing content creators. Lewis Mitchel, Twitch's APAC Content Director, recently commented on Kick's major deal with xQc, stating that the monetary aspect did not surprise him. He emphasized that Twitch's main priority is its creators and is less concerned about how others invest in the industry.
