The One Thing Diablo 4 is Missing: A Sixth Class That Will Blow Your Mind

Diablo 4's current classes offer diverse gameplay, but the absence of a sixth class with ranged DPS, tanking or healing abilities leaves a noticeable gap The addition of such an archetype would enhance the overall gameplay experience and provide more options for players to customize their playstyle
With two confirmed expansions in the works for Diablo 4, players are eagerly anticipating a wealth of new content over the next few months, with a potential release date for a major expansion this winter. In addition to this, Blizzard is working tirelessly to balance the game, tweaking classes from the initial beta through to the official launch date, introducing a range of buffs and nerfs in the process. As a result, players are finding it difficult to settle on a particular build or class, and with several archetypes missing from the current roster, it seems likely that a sixth class will eventually be introduced.
Given Diablo 3's post-launch content strategy, it seems logical that Blizzard will add at least one more class to Diablo 4, if not more. The game's current five classes are based on established entries in the series, allowing Blizzard to return to its roots for inspiration. It's possible that the sixth class will continue in this vein, or it may draw on archetypes from other games in the franchise. Whatever the case, Blizzard should consider adding a tank, ranged DPS, or healer class to fill the gaps in the game's current roster.
Diablo 4 Needs a Ranged DPS, Tank, or Healer as its Sixth Class
In Diablo 4, players will not find a dedicated healer class, a departure from previous iterations where the Monk sometimes filled this role. While there are a handful of self-healing abilities and passives available, they are not enough to justify players committing to a full-time healer role. The game simply lacks enough active abilities focused on healing, forcing players to rely heavily on potions. Similarly, there is no dedicated tank class in Diablo 4. While some classes, like the Druid, are inherently more resilient than others, none possess all of the necessary tools to effectively tank enemy attacks or pull aggro from allies. The Barbarian can pull aggro, but lacks the same survivability potential as the Druid. Neither class can truly fill the role of a dedicated tank.
Unfortunately, Diablo 4 currently lacks a fully efficient DPS class that can be played entirely at range. While the Sorcerer has impressive Basic Skills like Arc Lash that deal significant damage in a small area, it comes at the cost of melee-oriented gameplay. Additionally, the Rogue's strength lies in their Core Skill, Twisting Blades, rather than their ranged option, Penetrating Shot, which relies on additional skills like Shadow Imbuement to be effective. It's a shame that no class in the game truly excels at ranged builds. Given the game's experience, it would be ideal to introduce a sixth class that caters more to ranged weapon fans, alongside the tank and healer options.
Diablo 4 launches on June 6 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
