The official trailer for The Nun 2 has been released. This horror film is the ninth installment in The Conjuring Universe and serves as a sequel to 2018's The Nun. The original movie took place in 1952 and followed the investigation of Father Burke, novitiate Sister Irene, and their guide Frenchie as they explored a haunted Romanian monastery inhabited by a demonic nun. The sequel will see the return of Bonnie Aarons, Taissa Farmiga, and Jonas Bloquet, as well as the addition of new cast members Storm Reid, Anna Popplewell, and Katelyn Rose Downey. Warner Bros. Pictures unveiled the trailer in anticipation of the movie's official release on September 8.
Everything the Nun 2 Trailer Reveals About the Movie
The upcoming movie trailer offers a thrilling glimpse into another creepy escapade as the infamous demonic nun, Valak, rises once more to haunt the young students attending a boarding school in France. Sister Irene finds herself compelled to confront this malevolent entity, as it emerges from within Frenchie, where it sought refuge at the conclusion of the previous film, despite being believed to have been defeated.
The Conjuring Universe appears to be back on track with The Nun 2, showing promising signs of returning to its former glory. The recently unveiled trailer showcases a plethora of innovative and chilling scares awaiting in the upcoming film. Among these spine-tingling moments is a disturbing wall adorned with a collection of magazines that abruptly flips open, revealing a sequence of pages highlighting the ominous presence of Valak. Furthermore, the trailer tantalizingly hints at the whereabouts of the surviving protagonists from the original movie after the passage of four gripping years.
It is uncertain how much of the film will showcase Frenchie, as he has limited screen time in the trailer. There is a possibility that he may perish when Valak emerges, although the demon might continue to possess him while appearing as a nun. Regarding Sister Irene, who has been secluded in an Italian convent, the trailer suggests that she may not have fully confronted her previous traumatic experiences, which she will now be compelled to do in order to save innocent souls.
The remaining members of the Nun 2 cast are not prominently featured in this initial trailer, which mainly focuses on the returning characters. Currently, these characters are the only official connection to the wider Conjuring Universe in this movie. However, based on the setting revealed in the trailer, The Nun 2 could potentially be linked to Annabelle: Creation, which takes place around the same time and involves a group of school-aged children.
