Sikh-Punjabi midfielder Roop Kaur Bath urged to stay focused and determined by former West Ham player Rosie Kmita Both players feature in the groundbreaking South Asian heritage female player timeline Mariam Mahmood extends her contract with West Brom Women for another season

To fulfill her dream of playing at the highest level, Roop Kaur Bath needs to continue playing her natural game, according to trailblazer Rosie Kmita. Kaur Bath made history as the first Sikh-Punjabi to play at the senior level for West Ham. This groundbreaking achievement was revealed exclusively by We News when she participated in a first-team friendly against Hashtag United last summer, breaking barriers along the way.

The central midfielder, who previously represented QPR and London Bees in her junior career, has been garnering attention in recent months as she evaluates her opportunities for the upcoming season.

Kmita, a former player herself and a broadcaster, who most recently worked with Watford, made history at West Ham Women's team in 2018 by becoming their first-ever professional footballer after signing a permanent contract with the club.

Roop Kaur Bath is showcased in the inaugural timeline that captures the progress of female players of South Asian heritage in the English game. Both Kmita and Kaur Bath are featured in this groundbreaking timeline and broader exhibition, which document the advancements of South Asian female players in the contemporary English game.

When We News asked for advice for Kaur Bath, Kmita suggested, "Rather than overthinking, she should focus on taking each game as it comes and sticking to the strategies that got her into this position in the first place. Overthinking adds unnecessary pressure, and performing well under pressure can be challenging."

She should simply maintain her focus on her own performance.

After two stints at QPR, the Sikh-Punjabi central midfielder made a move to London Bees for the 2021/22 season. In an exclusive interview with We News, she expressed her eagerness to challenge herself in a new setting and step out of her comfort zone.

Having graduated from the Middlesex Centre of Excellence, Kaur Bath contributed to Ruislip Rangers' historic win in the Capital Girls County Cup. Additionally, she proudly represented Middlesex at the county level before joining West Ham.

The 19-year-old's future had been plunged into doubt after the departure of head coach Jenny Sugarman, who left West Brom last month to pursue other projects.

Siobhan Hodgetts, a member of the coaching staff, has taken over from Sugarman as the replacement. Former West Brom player Abbie Hinton has also joined Hodgetts, as the two have both closely collaborated with Mahmood since her early teenage years.
