Caicedo appears to have declined the opportunity to join Liverpool and is instead keen on a move to Chelsea, even though the Reds had agreed to a British-record fee of £111m with Brighton.

Brighton accepted Liverpool's offer after a midnight deadline for bids for the midfielder was established on Thursday. It is understood that Chelsea was willing to offer £100m for the player, while Bayern Munich was prepared to pay £90m.

Caicedo, who was initially scheduled for a medical examination in Liverpool on Friday, had a change of heart and notified the Reds that he no longer desired to join them.
