The Impact of Kourtney Kardashian's Animosity Towards Tristan Thompson on Daughter Penelope: A Trigger for Her

Kourtney Kardashian reveals how her daughter, Penelope, was affected by her strong disapproval of Tristan Thompson following his infidelity to Khloe Kardashian

Kourtney Kardashian should improve her poker face to prevent her children from adopting her negative feelings towards Tristan Thompson. In a recent episode of The Kardashians, available for streaming since November 2nd, Kourtney, who is 44 years old, informed her 11-year-old daughter, Penelope, that Khloé Kardashian would be picking her up from their residence in Palm Springs.

"P, Khloé will be coming to pick you up on the golf cart, and Tristan will be with them. Is that alright?" she inquired of Penelope, who replied, "Yes, I'm fine."

Kourtney further explained to the cameras why Penelope might not enjoy spending time with 32-year-old Tristan. "I think she takes after me in this regard. I told her on her first day of school that I had a strong negative reaction to him. I don't know why."

The Poosh founder mentioned that their family has forgiven Tristan for many things.

“We tend to overlook it and move on. I was just really affected and thought, 'I can't handle it anymore. I just can't,'" Kourtney remembered. "Tristan has made some terrible choices and mistakes involving my sister. Sometimes, he triggers me so much that I can't be around him. But there are also times when I choose to let it go because we strive for peace. After all, he is the father of my niece and nephew."

When Tristan arrived at Kourtney's house with Khloé, 39, he engaged in conversation with Penelope. However, Penelope greeted Tristan before abruptly diverting her attention elsewhere. Known for enduring numerous public scandals, the NBA player began dating Khloé in 2016. Just one year later, they revealed their plans to expand their family. Nevertheless, days prior to the birth of their daughter True in 2018, Tristan faced allegations of infidelity, having been accused of cheating on his pregnant girlfriend with multiple women.

Khloé and Tristan ended their relationship in February 2019 following an incident where Tristan kissed Jordyn Woods, Kylie Jenner's former best friend. In August 2020, it was confirmed that they had decided to give their romance another chance, but less than a year later, they separated once again. They briefly reconciled in late 2021 before ultimately ending their relationship for good.

In December 2021, news emerged that Tristan was facing a lawsuit from Maralee Nichols for child support. Just a month later, Tristan publicly acknowledged that he is indeed the father of Theo, the fitness model's son, after previously requesting a paternity test.

In August 2022, it was confirmed by Us that Khloé and Tristan have welcomed their second child, a son named Tatum, through surrogacy. The planning for this process began before Tristan's personal life became the subject of media attention. Following the drama, Tristan received praise from Khloé's family members, including her mother Kris Jenner and sister Kim Kardashian.

"Khloe and Tristan have truly found their groove. He is always there to assist with the kids and run errands," Kris stated on a recent episode of The Kardashians. "We are aware that Tristan has made errors in the past. He genuinely apologizes for the pain he has caused Khloé, and I believe he regrets those mistakes every day."

In addition, Kim, 43, praised Tristan for his unwavering support, calling him a "remarkable individual and loyal friend."

In the Hulu series, Kim addressed the backlash she anticipated from guys, acknowledging that they would hold negative opinions about her and her sister, Khloé. Kim, who is a parent to four children with Kanye West, admitted that it was hard for her to comprehend how Kanye could be a wonderful friend and an excellent father but struggle with staying faithful in his romantic relationships. In a subsequent episode, Khloé expressed her approval of Penelope's hesitant response to Tristan.

"I take pride in the progress Tristan and I have made and my ability to support him in his role as a father. However, it is important to note that my relationship with Tristan does not dictate the expectations I have for my family members," expressed the Good American cofounder in a private confession. "If Penelope has reservations about Tristan, she is entitled to them. I commend her for that." Khloé expressed her optimism for Penelope to gain insight from her own experiences.

"I wish for Penelope to embrace these emotions, and I am determined not to dissuade her from experiencing them. I refuse to endorse or rationalize this behavior," she reiterated. "I want her to understand that her feelings are justified. We should never tolerate such mistreatment from others."

New episodes of The Kardashians are available on Hulu every Thursday.
