Kourtney Kardashian is reflecting on the ultrasound that necessitated her emergency surgery and ultimately saved her son's life. Speaking to Vogue in an interview released on October 17, the 44-year-old reality TV star expressed how the experience introduced her to a previously unknown aspect of pregnancy and left her feeling frightened.
She went on to explain that she was unaware that insurance usually only provides coverage for two ultrasounds during pregnancy. She expressed gratitude for always being able to afford additional ultrasounds outside of insurance coverage. It was one of these extra ultrasounds that ultimately saved her baby's life. Kardashian took to Instagram in September to announce the news of the "urgent fetal surgery". Her husband, Travis Barker, abruptly returned home from his European Blink-182 tour early, citing an "urgent family matter".
"I have finally been able to release the fear and anxieties that others imposed upon us during this pregnancy," Kardashian expressed, reflecting on her surgery from the past month. "I am now prepared to embrace the birthing process and fully immerse myself in the meaningful experience that awaits us," she eagerly revealed.
Although Kardashian has had three previous children, this is her first child with Barker. She expressed her obsession with pregnancy to the outlet.
Kardashian has three children, Mason (13), Penelope (11), and Reign (8), with her ex Scott Disick. On the other hand, the Blink-182 drummer has two children, Landon (20) and Alabama (17), with his ex-wife Shanna Moakler, and he also serves as a father figure to Atiana (24), Moakler's daughter with ex Oscar De La Hoya.
Kardashian had been open about her experience with IVF treatments before conceiving naturally. She expressed feeling pressured and forced into undergoing the treatments, which went against her intuition. Kardashian told Vogue that she wasn't mentally or physically prepared for the toll it took on her. However, the couple ended up getting pregnant naturally, which brought about an indescribable feeling. Initially, there was shock, followed by intense happiness, but worries and fears also emerged. Despite this, Kardashian made sure to remember the importance of gratitude.

"I remained completely composed when my water broke with Mason; I even took the time to groom myself by shaving my legs and applying makeup," she remarked. "As for this time, I may not have a detailed birthing plan, but I consistently communicate and reassure the baby, constantly affirming that everything will be fantastic."
However, there is one aspect she has firmly scheduled: her commitment to attachment parenting. Kardashian reminisced about employing this approach with her two youngest children, emphasizing that she purposely refrained from venturing outside during the initial 40 days. "The result was an incredibly strong bond between us, which I genuinely cherish," she explained.
Kardashian is classified as having a "geriatric pregnancy" because of her advanced age, which she finds to be quite surprising. In comparison to her previous three pregnancies, she has faced more constraints from her doctors.
So what exactly are these restrictions? In a recent interview with Vanity Fair Italia, Kardashian revealed that she has been advised to refrain from engaging in workouts, Pilates, consuming caffeine, undertaking plane trips, and even abstaining from sexual activity.
