Biden, who is 80 years old, is scheduled to give a speech on the United States' efforts to address the continuing conflict involving Israel and Palestine, as well as the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
On Wednesday, October 18, the president traveled to Israel where he met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Following their meeting, Biden stated that Israel was established to serve as a secure haven for the Jewish people worldwide. He further emphasized that the United States would employ all available means to ensure the safety of the country.

He emphasized that Hamas does not serve as a representative of the Palestinian people, as the overwhelming majority of Palestinians are not affiliated with Hamas. Biden condemned Hamas for employing innocent families in Gaza as human shields and deliberately placing their command centers, weapons, or communication tunnels in residential regions.
MTV's announcement of the cancellation of the 2023 EMAs in Paris on Sunday, November 5, due to the volatility of global events, has coincided with news of Biden's address causing a reshuffling of the Thursday night TV schedule. Performances from Sabrina Carpenter, Renée Rapp, David Guetta, The Kid Laroi, PinkPantheress, Coi Leray, and BTS' Jungkook were initially planned for the awards ceremony. Paramount, the parent company of MTV, expressed their decision in consideration of the well-being of the employees, crew members, artists, fans, and partners who travel from various parts of the world to make the show happen.
The statement went on to say that due to the ongoing devastating events in Israel and Gaza, the annual celebration of global music, the MTV EMAs, does not seem appropriate at this time. Instead of a global celebration, it is a time for mourning, considering the thousands of lives already lost. The statement also mentions that the MTV EMAs will be hosted again in November of 2024. Additionally, The Golden Bachelor can be watched on ABC on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET.
