Sullivan’s Crossing deserves recognition for bringing together the highly anticipated onscreen collaboration of Scott Patterson and Chad Michael Murray.
In a recent interview with We, Patterson, 65, reminisced about working on two separate projects alongside Murray, 42, leading up to their eventual joint venture on screen.
This is my first time working with him. We never had any scenes together on Gilmore Girls, the show that launched both of our careers. We also didn't have any scenes together in the indie film Other People's Children. But now, we finally got to work together and I genuinely enjoyed it. Chad is a true professional. He has a deep understanding of the medium and knows exactly how to act in front of a camera. He also knows what to avoid. That's the most challenging part, so it's always a pleasure to work with him.
After filming season 1 of Sullivan’s Crossing, Patterson is hoping for more onscreen moments between him and Murray.
"I'm really looking forward to our characters crossing paths more in upcoming episodes and seasons of 'Sullivan's Crossing.' It seems like the show has a promising future, which is always exciting. Personally, I can't get enough of Chad Michael Murray's talent, and I know there are plenty of fans out there who feel the same way. So, yes, please give me more Chad!"
In Sullivan’s Crossing, a television series based on Robyn Carr's book series, Maggie (played by Morgan Kohan), a neurosurgeon, is compelled to return to her rural hometown in Nova Scotia. Throughout her journey, she reconnects with her estranged father Sully (played by Patterson) and forms a special connection with his coworker Cal (played by Murray).
"[Cal] has been a familiar face in Sullivan’s Crossing for quite some time. He is on a personal quest, seeking peace, solace, and healing," Patterson explained. "While he remains somewhat of a mystery, Sully has an innate sense that he is a good-hearted person and trusts him. As a result, Cal pitches in at the campground whenever possible and is always present."
Patterson dedicated more time to filming alongside Kohan, 29, who portrays his daughter on the show.
"I believe both of us bring personal experiences to the table when it comes to this kind of estranged father-daughter relationship. It may not be an exact match, but I think that's what made it effortless. Morgan and I effortlessly merged our roles to see if a scene would work," he described. "Chemistry is always uncertain. However, it was immediately evident because we both have significant life experiences that shape these kinds of characters."

He added, "For us, it holds great significance. It allows us to truly embody these characters, unlike others who may believe they can portray these roles but ultimately realize during the casting process that they aren't a suitable fit. We both strongly believe that we are perfectly suited for these roles."
The show, which premiered on Canada's CTV earlier this year, continues to thrive on The CW. Patterson has thoroughly enjoyed witnessing the unwavering support of his fans for this fresh endeavor.
"It is always exhilarating to venture into a new destination, embracing a fresh project and anticipating the unknown. The people encountered are delightful, the work profoundly engaging, and the teamwork genuine. We have the advantage of a pre-existing audience from the highly popular [Gilmore Girls], and now we also have the devoted readership of Robyn Carr's books," he shared enthusiastically with Us. "Therefore, it is particularly thrilling to enter into a venture that is already established, boasting a loyal fan base, while also having the opportunity to introduce my own supporters. They can merge their forces, watch the show together, and share their thoughts." Patterson also commended Sullivan's Crossing for fostering an environment that allows for collaborative efforts.

Patterson's main highlight has been the sense of respect that the cast experienced while on set.
“Everyone has the opportunity to express their concerns, opinions, and ideas, and they are taken seriously,” he added. “It gives everyone a sense of ownership and involvement in the process. Roma is still the leader, doing most of the work. However, she values our thoughts, and that is a rare and precious thing. This is why the show feels authentic, vibrant, and has achieved success. I hope this continues.” Catch Sullivan’s Crossing on The CW Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
