During an exclusive interview with We, Patterson, aged 65, commended Tom Jackson's outstanding performance as his character Frank, who was shot in the episode aired on Wednesday, October 18.
Expressing his emotions towards Tom, Patterson revealed, "I feel the same way about Tom as my character Sully feels about Frank. Their friendship is incredibly close and profound. They rely on each other every day." Speaking highly of both Tom and his onscreen wife Edna, portrayed by Andrea Menard, Patterson described them as remarkable actors with strong personalities and an undeniable presence.
Patterson developed a strong bond with Jackson, 74, that allowed him a newfound sense of freedom when collaborating on their scenes. "I feel completely at ease with everyone, but especially Tom, as we delve into deeply emotional work," he expressed. "What sets Tom apart in his performance is that he brings so much of himself to the character. You can truly feel the profound nature of this individual and the immense kindness in his heart."
Sullivan's Crossing, based on Robyn Carr's book series, revolves around neurosurgeon Maggie (Morgan Kohan) who is compelled to return to her rural Nova Scotia hometown. Patterson became so overwhelmed with tears that the footage had to be discarded due to excessive mucus flow from his nose, which he couldn't contain. However, Patterson expressed that this strong emotional impact is a testament to the power of his co-stars, as he experiences the same intensity with all of them.
