In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, a dedicated Zelda fan recreates the iconic opening sequence of Breath of the Wild. Following the Upheaval, Hyrule has undergone significant changes, but fans of Breath of the Wild can still revisit a familiar location from Link's previous adventure.

In Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, players have the opportunity to explore areas they previously encountered in Breath of the Wild. They can uncover new secrets and venture to the sky islands above Hyrule. The Upheaval caused debris to scatter across Hyrule, resulting in the destruction of villages and the migration of monsters towards Central Hyrule. Additionally, this event formed chasms that provide entrance to the Depths, an ancient and corrupted land beneath Hyrule. Despite the widespread and enduring consequences of the Upheaval, certain locations like Kakariko Village and Rito Village remain relatively untouched.

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player, MrAngero, took it upon themselves to recreate the opening sequence of Breath of the Wild. They revisited the Great Plateau and found that the cave where Link first woke up still exists in Tears of the Kingdom. In their recreation, MrAngero can be seen walking to the edge of the plateau's cliff, just like in the original game. However, the game's title drops and the music and logo from the opening sequence are not available in Tears of the Kingdom. To make up for this, MrAngero edited in these elements to recreate the iconic scene.

In this recreation, President Hudson replaces the Old Man from Breath of the Wild. MrAngero somehow transported the character from Tarrey Town in Akkala to the Great Plateau, but they did not share the exact methods they used. However, players could potentially transport characters and Koroks themselves by building vehicles and flying machines with the Ultrahand ability.

In Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Hyrule Castle and its surroundings have undergone changes. However, MrAngero has skillfully recreated the impressive opening of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, featuring a stronger and more experienced Link. Both openings emphasize a feeling of exploration and freedom, and MrAngero's version successfully captures these qualities by highlighting Central Hyrule. This expansive area offers numerous smaller sections and hidden secrets waiting to be uncovered.

Within the vast world of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, players will likely continue to share their discoveries and creative endeavors. Link's diverse abilities enable players to utilize nearby materials and construct unique contraptions, ranging from a train inspired by Zelda: Spirit Tracks to a formidable attack helicopter.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now for Nintendo Switch.
