The Curse of Taylor Swift? Brett Favre Suggests She May Be Blamed if Kansas City Chiefs Lose Playoffs

Brett Favre cautions Taylor Swift fans to brace themselves for criticism if the Kansas City Chiefs fail to reach the Super Bowl this season Get ready for potential backlash, Swifties!

According to Brett Favre, if the Kansas City Chiefs don't make it to the Super Bowl, some fans will attribute it to Travis Kelce's girlfriend, Taylor Swift. Favre, 54, stated to TMZ Sports on Saturday, January 13, "If they don't win it or get to the Super Bowl, people are going to say, 'That's why.'"

The former Green Bay Packers quarterback, now retired, expressed his belief that the Chiefs will likely go all the way again, meaning Swift probably won't be accused of any blame. "As long as [coach] Andy Reid remains the champion, I'll need to see it to believe it," he stated.

NFL Network commentator Rich Eisen later defended 34-year-old Swift, stating, "It's ridiculous that this even needs to be said, but blaming @taylorswift13 for anything related to @tkelce or the @chiefs or the state of the @NFL or anyone's enjoyment of it is the most foolish and absurd argument I've heard in a long time. Take your pick," Eisen, 54, wrote via X on Saturday.

Ever since she began dating her 34-year-old boyfriend in the summer of 2023, Swift has been showing her support by attending his games. Her presence at NFL stadiums has garnered a lot of attention, but the singer clarified that she did not seek to be in the spotlight.

"I have no idea how they know which suite I'm in," Swift shared in her December TIME Person of the Year profile. "There's a camera that's, like, half a mile away, and you don't even know where it is, and you have no clue when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don't know if I'm being shown 17 times or just once."

She said, "I'm just there to support Travis. I have no idea if I'm being shown too much and upsetting a few dads, Brads, and Chads."

Kelce, on the other hand, acknowledged that he has never dated anyone under such a spotlight before. "Obviously I've never dated anyone with that kind of aura around them... I've never experienced it. But at the same time, I'm not avoiding any of it," he told WSJ. Magazine in November. "The scrutiny she receives, how closely she is watched every single day, paparazzi outside her house, outside every restaurant she goes to, after every flight she gets off, and she's just living, enjoying life. When she acts like that, I better not be the one acting all strange."

Travis and Taylor appear prepared for any challenge, but speculation about marriage is unfounded. According to a source who spoke exclusively to We on January 12, they have no intention of getting engaged this summer. "Things are going great between them, but they haven't even been together for a year and still have a lot to discover about each other."
