The Awesome Start of Scott Pilgrim in Adorable Opening Credits

Netflix introduces the visually captivating opening titles of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, featuring a delightful blend of retro anime aesthetics and an enchanting soundtrack, Bloom by Necry Talkie

Netflix has unveiled the complete opening credits for Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, an upcoming anime series. Produced by Science SARU and accompanied by "Bloom" by Necry Talkie, the sequence showcases Scott (played by Michael Cera) enjoying time with his friends, rehearsing with his band Sex Bob-Omb, and encountering his romantic interest, Ramona Flowers (portrayed by Mary Elizabeth Winstead). It also hints at the appearance of Ramona's villainous ex-boyfriends and Scott's former partner, Envy Adams (played by Brie Larson), in addition to the star-studded cast reprising their roles from the original 2010 film.

In January 2023, the announcement of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off marked the arrival of the second adaptation of Bryan Lee O'Malley's graphic novel series. This time, O'Malley collaborated with BenDavid Grabinski to co-write the anime. Notably, the film's director and co-writer Edgar Wright, co-writer Michael Bacall, and producers Marc Platt and Nira Park have also joined the series as executive producers. Building on their previous work, Anamanaguchi, known for scoring Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game, will compose the music for the series alongside Joseph Trapanese.

The goal of Takes Off is to tell the Scott Pilgrim story in a fresh way by incorporating dropped plot elements from the comics and delving deeper into the supporting cast and villains. O'Malley aims to provide a deeper understanding of the characters' thoughts and feelings, drawing from his own experiences and growth over time.

Despite this focus on character development, Takes Off will still maintain the fast-paced, action-packed nature that the series is known for. Grabinski highlights that the animated medium allows for limitless possibilities, with an epic fight sequence in Episodes 2 and 3 that would be prohibitively expensive if filmed live-action. The potential for creativity is vast, without the constraints of a live-action production.

Fans can see Scott Pilgrim Takes Off when it streams on Nov. 17 on Netflix.

As an enthusiastic fan of Scott Pilgrim, I am thrilled about the upcoming anime series, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. The opening credits, featuring the captivating blend of retro anime aesthetics and the enchanting soundtrack "Bloom" by Necry Talkie, have left me in awe. The sequence perfectly captures the essence of the original graphic novel series and the 2010 film, while also introducing new elements that are sure to excite fans.

I am particularly excited to see the deeper exploration of the supporting cast and villains in Takes Off. In the original film, some of these characters were not given as much attention as they deserved. However, the anime series seems to be addressing this issue by giving them more screen time and development. This will allow fans to gain a better understanding of the characters' motivations and actions, and to connect with them on a deeper level.
