Beyoncé initially didn’t allow her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, to take part in the Renaissance World Tour.

Beyoncé, 42, revealed in her concert documentary Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé that although she initially refused, she eventually allowed her daughter, Blue Ivy, 11, to perform as a backup dancer during her tour. The young girl was originally only supposed to make an onstage appearance, but she ended up participating during songs such as "My Power" and "Black Parade." Beyoncé shares 6-year-old twins, Rumi and Sir, with her husband, Jay-Z.

Former Destiny's Child member revealed that the criticism of her daughter's dancing on social media had an impact on Blue Ivy. However, instead of giving up, Blue Ivy impressed her mother by training even harder, and her improvement did not go unnoticed by fans.

In September, a TikTok user compared Blue Ivy's dancing at the start of the tour to three months later and remarked on her exponential growth. In the initial clip, Blue Ivy danced hesitantly alongside her mother in June during the song "My Power." Only a few months later, in September, Blue Ivy displayed noticeably more confidence and flawlessly executed the choreography.

In August, Kelly Rowland, former member of Beyoncé's girl group, enthusiastically praised Blue Ivy's strong work ethic. "I'm incredibly proud," Rowland, 42, shared with E! News. "She truly works hard, without a doubt. But it's no surprise, right? She's witnessed her mother and father's dedication and hard work in everything they do."

Blue Ivy has previously joined her mother onstage, with Beyoncé inviting the audience to sing along to "Brown Skin Girl" in a private Dubai concert in January. This was not the first time that Blue Ivy took part in a performance, as she had previously been a part of the Renaissance tour.

Blue Ivy was credited as a writer for the song and made an appearance in the music video with her grandmother, Tina Knowles, and sister, Rumi. In 2021, the music video won a Grammy award, making Blue Ivy the second-youngest Grammy winner ever at the age of 9.
