Taylor Swift mentioned Charlie Puth in her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department. Fans were quick to link the lyric to her ex, Matty Healy.

Swift's 11th album was released on April 19. While it was expected to be about her breakup with Joe Alwyn after six years, many fans noticed hints pointing towards Healy, who is 35 years old.

Taylor Swift, 34, sings about smoking and eating seven bars of chocolate in the title track of her album. She also mentions declaring Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist, while describing a scene of scratching someone's head until they fall asleep, comparing them to a tattooed golden retriever.

The song "Chocolate" not only references Healy's band The 1975's breakout hit, but also includes a shout-out to Charlie Puth, 32, years before the release of the album.

In May 2018, Healy tweeted about how he liked the song by Charlie Puth and Boyz II Men. He was talking about the song "If You Leave Me Now" from Puth's album Voicenotes.

Puth saw the tweet and retweeted it. He thanked Healy by writing, "Thank u matty!"

Swift and Healy first caught people's attention as a possible couple back in 2014 when they were seen wearing each other's merchandise. At that time, The 1975 was just beginning to rise in popularity. Healy even mentioned in an interview with Q Magazine that being linked to someone more famous than him made him feel less masculine.

Healy tried to explain his comments after facing criticism. In a statement from 2016, he said, "I may sometimes act foolishly, but I do not hate women."

He continued by sharing, "I was briefly part of the celebrity world, which I found overwhelming and intimidating. I was afraid of being labeled as someone's boyfriend without being acknowledged for my music or who I am as a person."

After Swift's breakup with Alwyn in 2023, she and Healy reconnected. A source shared exclusively with Us, "They're looking to give things a second chance."

The two were seen together several times, including Healy joining Swift on stage during one of her Eras Tour concerts with opening act Phoebe Bridgers. However, their relationship ended in June 2023.

At the time, a source mentioned that they had a good time together, but it was never a serious relationship.

Fans were surprised to learn that the fling might have been more meaningful to Swift than they had thought. Healy, along with his numerous controversies, appeared to have inspired a lot of TTPD.

She sings on "I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)," "They shake their heads saying, 'God help her' when I tell 'em he's my man. But your good Lord doesn't need to lift a finger. I can fix him, no really I can. And only I can."
