Taylor Swift's Father Scott Swift Cleared of Charges in Alleged Assault on Australian Photographer

Scott Swift, father of Taylor Swift, has been cleared of charges related to an alleged assault on an Australian photographer during the Eras Tour. Find out the latest updates on this legal matter involving the Swift family.

Taylor Swift’s father, Scott Swift, will not face charges after being accused of assaulting an Australian photographer in Sydney. The incident reportedly took place after a night of celebration following Taylor's final show of The Eras Tour in Australia on February 27, 2024.

An investigation was initiated by the New South Wales Police Force in Sydney, Australia after a reported incident involving Scott, 71, and a man named Ben McDonald at a ferry wharf on Tuesday, February 27. According to Page Six, the incident took place in the early hours of the morning.

Scott allegedly engaged in a physical altercation with McDonald, 55, at 2:30 a.m. as Swift and her father were disembarking from a luxury yacht.

The North Shore Police Command launched an investigation into the alleged incident. However, New South Wales Police confirmed to Daily Mail Australia that no further action was taken over the incident.

After the incident, McDonald alleged to Daily Mail Australia that "She got off the boat, she walked towards security guards who were shoving umbrellas in our faces, and then he charged," claiming that Scott’s actions were unprovoked.

In response to McDonald's claims, Swift's representative told We, "Two people were forcefully approaching Taylor, grabbing at her security team, and making threats to push a female staff member into the water."

In a recorded audio clip released by the outlet, Scott and a security guard can be heard warning McDonald not to touch the umbrella that Taylor was using for cover as they departed the yacht.

In photos taken that night, Scott is seen holding his daughter's hand as she tries to avoid the cameras.

Scott joined Taylor for most of her sold-out Eras Tour. Just days before the reported incident, fans had praised him for handing out sandwiches during the Friday, February 23 concert. One fan even captioned a TikTok video of Scott's interaction with fans, saying "Papa Swift giving out sandwiches and fruits."

In the video, Taylor's dad offered food to fans at Accor Stadium by holding a tray full of sandwiches near the VIP tent. He even placed a small light on the tray so that people could see the food better.

After taking a break in the Bahamas with Kelce, Taylor spent a weekend in Los Angeles before resuming her Eras Tour schedule.
