Taylor Swift, the Grammy-winning songstress, is bringing ex-boyfriend Taylor Lautner back into her life by featuring him in her latest music video for "I Can See You." The highly-anticipated video made its debut at a tour stop in Kansas City on Friday, July 7, before being released on YouTube. In the captivating footage, Swift, adorned in her iconic Speak Now era attire, finds herself trapped inside a bank vault and yearns for freedom. Assisting her in her daring escape are actors Joey King, Presley Cash, and of course, Taylor Lautner himself.

"I penned this video treatment more than a year ago and had a strong desire to portray symbolically how it personally felt for me to have the support of my fans in reclaiming my music," Swift shared on Instagram later that Friday evening. "I had my heart set on Joey King, Taylor Lautner, and Presley Cash starring in it. Joey and Presley had previously appeared in my 'Mean' music video when they were 9 and 13 respectively, and now they're back, showcasing their incredible badassery! Taytay is absolutely outstanding in this video (no stunt double needed!) and a shout-out to Taylor Dome for being so amazing to hang out with on set. It's truly the Tale of 3 Taylors."

Following the premiere of the video at the Arrowhead Stadium concert, Swift invited the cast to join her onstage. The Twilight star, who had a romantic relationship with Swift from August to December 2009, executed a backflip down the catwalk after the songstress called out his name during her performance of "Dear John."

“He played a pivotal role in my life during the production of the Speak Now album and I must acknowledge that he performed every single stunt that you witnessed in that music video,” expressed Swift, who fondly called Lautner "TayTay" in her introduction, as captured in social media footage from the concert. "He and his spouse have now become among my closest confidants, and it's rather convenient since we all share the same first name."

Lautner, who tied the knot with Dome in November 2022, expressed his joy at Swift's heartfelt tribute, emphasizing his utmost respect for her. He further acknowledged her not only as a talented singer, songwriter, and performer but also as a genuinely compassionate and humble individual. Lautner concluded by expressing his gratitude for knowing her.

Swift and Lautner's relationship first sparked after their roles as teenage lovers in the movie "Valentine's Day" in 2010. During this time, Lautner, who hails from Michigan, was by Swift's side when she won a Video Music Award in 2009. Unfortunately, her moment was overshadowed when Kanye West interrupted her speech, suggesting that Beyoncé should have won instead.

Lautner, in a February episode of his podcast "The Squeeze," recalled the incident, mentioning how he had just gone public with Swift. He presented her with the award, took a few steps back, and stood five feet behind her. Amid her thank-you speech, Kanye abruptly jumped onto the stage. Lautner could barely hear or see what was happening and assumed it was a rehearsed skit, as he couldn't understand why Kanye would interrupt Taylor Swift. It simply didn't add up.

At the time, he stated, "He jumped off, she finished. The second she turned back around and I saw her face for the first time, I immediately realized that it wasn't good."

In due course, West, who is 46 years old, apologized for his behavior. Swift drew inspiration from this incident while composing her album, Speak Now. The song "Innocent," included in the re-recorded version of the album, was written about this particular moment and the rapper's subsequent apology.

Swift's Friday show coincided with the release of her newly rerecorded album, "Speak Now," which is now her sixth owned LP. To celebrate, fans in Kansas City were treated to a number of surprises, including new purple outfits to match the album's era and unexpected performances of songs from the album. Among the acoustic sets, Swift sang "When Emma Falls in Love (From the Vault)" and "Never Grow Up," before adding "Long Live" to the "Speak Now" section of the concert. During her performance of "Long Live," she strummed the melody on the same blue guitar decorated with koi fish that she had used during her 2010 live tour.

Actor Lautner, on the other hand, watched most of the show from the VIP tent in the crowd, accompanied by his wife and King, age 23. The actress from "The Kissing Booth," who had co-starred with Swift's best friend Selena Gomez in the film "Ramona and Beezus" in 2010, also brought her sister, Hunter King, to the concert.
