Taylor Swift made changes to her Eras Tour setlist to showcase her newest album, The Tortured Poets Department, and also adjusted the post-show playlist.

At the concert in Lisbon, Portugal on Friday, May 24, fans leaving the venue heard “The Alchemy” playing over the stadium speakers. This was different from previous concerts where the song “You’re On Your Own, Kid” from the album Midnights was usually played at that moment.

Swifties quickly speculated that Taylor Swift, who is 34 years old, may have changed the song choice as a way of acknowledging her boyfriend, Travis Kelce. Last month, the singer released “The Alchemy” on TTPD, a song that fans believe is about Kelce, who is also 34.

In the chorus, Swift sings, “So when I touch down / Call the amateurs and cut ’em from the team,” making clear references to football. She continues, “Ditch the clowns, get the crown / Baby, I’m the one to beat / ‘Cause the sign on your heart / Said it’s still reserved for me.”

Swift has been in a relationship with Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, since the summer of 2023. They made their relationship public when she attended her first Chiefs game in September of that year. Swift also supported Kelce at the Super Bowl in February, where she greeted him with a kiss on the field after his team's victory.

"Shirts off and your friends hoist you up high / Beer spilling on the floor," Swift sings in the song. "Cheers ringing out as they declared / 'No way you could be the best in the game' / Where's the trophy? / He just rushes over to me."

During the European leg of her Eras Tour in May, Swift included several TTPD songs in her setlist. Although "The Alchemy" was not initially planned, she surprised fans by performing it at her last concert in Paris. The acoustic version was combined with "Treacherous," which held a special significance for Kelce, a fan in the audience.

A social media user on X noted, "'The alchemy' symbolizes turning things into gold and 'Treacherous' is from the Red album." During the performance, golden and red lights illuminated the stadium, adding to the magical atmosphere.

Kelce’s Chiefs are famous for their red and gold colors, similar to the hues Swift wore for her 1989 and Evermore costumes at the Parisian show.

Kelce, who recently shared with We that Swift’s Eras Tour is “amazing,” also listed “The Alchemy” as one of his top 3 favorite songs from Swift’s discography. The other two favorites are “So High School,” a TTPD track believed to be about their love story, and “Blank Space.”

Kelce is set to cheer on his girlfriend at many more of her European concerts.

"He wants to be there for her as much as he can, so he plans to travel between the U.S. and Europe while he has the time," a source shared with Us last week. "Right now, Travis can adjust his schedule to spend time with Taylor."

Kelce is currently enjoying his NFL offseason, with his games set to start again on September 5.

Editor's P/S:

Taylor Swift's recent changes to her Eras Tour setlist and post-show playlist suggest a personal touch inspired by her relationship with football star Travis Kelce. The inclusion of "The Alchemy," a song believed to be about Kelce, and the acoustic performance of "Treacherous" combined with golden and red lights evoke the colors associated with Kelce's team, the Kansas City Chiefs. These adjustments showcase Swift's attention to detail and her desire to create a meaningful experience for both her fans and her partner.
