Taylor Swift shocked fans with a last-minute Buenos Aires Eras Tour cancellation — something truly unprecedented for the singer.
"I am a fan of rain showers, but I will never jeopardize the safety of my fans, fellow performers, and crew," shared Swift, 33, on Instagram on Friday, November 10. "Due to the excessively tumultuous weather conditions, it would be unsafe to proceed with tonight's Buenos Aires show, so we have decided to reschedule it for Sunday."
In a positive twist, Swift mentioned that the silver lining is that she will "extend her stay in Argentina."
The second show of her South American tour was scheduled for Friday night, taking place at the River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires from Thursday, November 9 to Saturday, November 11. However, the cancellation of Friday night's performance means that Swift will conclude her three-night run on Sunday, November 12. Additionally, she has upcoming performances in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo throughout the remainder of November.
Swift delayed the concert following reports of her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, arriving in Buenos Aires. Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, had traveled to Argentina after attending the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation gala in Missouri alongside his teammate, Patrick Mahomes.
Although Swift was unable to attend the gala, she contributed by donating a framed platinum record with an authentic autograph, as revealed in an Instagram post by the Optimal Fundraising Group on Thursday.
The relationship between Swift and Kelce began to intensify in September after he was unsuccessful in getting her phone number at the Eras Tour in July. Kelce extended an invitation to Swift to attend one of his football games, and she eagerly accepted. Since then, their connection has continued to grow, with Swift being seen at numerous NFL games in recent months.
As a gesture of reciprocity, Kelce has now chosen to show his support for Swift in South America during his bye week. (Kelce's NFL schedule will resume on Monday, November 20, when the Chiefs face the Eagles.)
According to another source, Travis and Taylor are genuinely in a relationship and spend a significant amount of quality time together. They have established a strong connection. The couple has made elaborate plans to remain together while Taylor is on tour and Travis has games.
Kelce subtly mentioned his upcoming trip to Argentina during a podcast called "New Heights," which he co-hosts with his brother Jason Kelce. When asked about his plans for his time off, Travis mentioned that he intended to travel to a location closer to the equator.
“I might just say ‘f–k it’ and just go somewhere nice, I don’t know,” he teased at the time. “My skin’s getting real pale. I gotta go somewhere sunny.”
