Taylor Swift invited the family of Ana Clara Benevides Machado, a fan who had passed away prior to an "Eras Tour" show in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to her last performance in the country on Sunday. A source close to the singer confirmed this to CNN. The family, wearing shirts with Machado's picture, posed with Swift backstage, and they were also seen in the audience at her show in São Paulo, Brazil. Photos and videos of this heartfelt gesture have been circulating on social media.

CNN verified the authenticity of the photo and video. Before a Swift concert in Rio on Nov. 17, Benevides Machado, 23, tragically passed away as the region was grappling with a record heat wave, which also led to Swift postponing one of her shows in Brazil.

The singer expressed deep sorrow at her passing.

"I cannot believe I am composing these words, but it is with a heavy heart that I announce the loss of a fan earlier tonight before my show," Swift stated in a post shared on her Instagram stories. "I cannot convey how devastated I am by this. I have very little information, other than the fact that she was stunning and much too young."

Benevides Machado allegedly collapsed at the stadium and passed away.

"I won't be able to address this from the stage as I am overcome with grief whenever I attempt to talk about it," Swift stated. "I want to express how deeply I feel this loss and extend my heartfelt condolences to her family and friends. This is the last thing I expected when we chose to bring this tour to Brazil."

Swifts "Eras Tour" will resume in Japan in February and continue through December 2024. A concert film about the tour set a box office record.
