Taylor Swift's most recent release included six songs that had never been heard before. However, one fan's vinyl seemed to play something completely unexpected. After the release of Speak Now (Taylor's Version) on Friday, July 7th, a TikTok user with the handle @mischief_marauder shared a video of her orchid vinyl. In the clip, she questioned whether anyone else's Speak Now vinyl did not feature Taylor Swift's name on it, and then proceeded to play a short portion of the vinyl.
As the video progressed, an eerie soundtrack commenced. Captions on the screen declared, "I ceased observing individuals, refrained from gazing at the fragments of flesh and twirling organisms," while the vinyl spun.
With a worried expression, the fan turned the camera around. "Who might this be?" she inquired, chuckling, and playfully added, "It's not Taylor's Version, so Speak Now."
In another part of the video, there was a recording of a man's voice repeatedly saying, "70 billion people of Earth" and "Where are they hiding?"
Other social media users inquired about updates from the original poster in the comments, which led her to share a second video. The fan then mentioned, "Both sides have another song playing... and it's titled 'Happy Land'."
Swifties who are supportive tagged Taylor Nation and Swift, 33, in the comments section seeking answers. One fan pleaded, "You guys should send this girl a new album and a speak now cardigan; it's an unwritten rule." Meanwhile, another fan predicted that the defective record could potentially become "a valuable item for collectors in the future."
In May, Swift announced her plans to rerecord her album Speak Now, which was originally released in 2010, as part of her ongoing battle to regain ownership of her masters. She shared this news with her audience during a performance on her Eras Tour in Nashville and followed up with a detailed statement on Instagram.

Speak Now, my first album, was completely self-written during the ages of 18 to 20. The songs that emerged during this period were characterized by their raw honesty, uncensored personal confessions, and a vibrant sense of longing. What I cherish about this album is its ability to narrate a story of maturing, struggling, soaring, and falling... and ultimately, surviving to share these experiences," she expressed during that time.
In addition to the beloved tracks known to fans such as "Mine," "Ours," and "Sparks Fly," the reissue includes unreleased songs that didn't make the original cut. Swift also collaborated with Fall Out Boy and Hayley Williams on two of the six bonus tracks.
During the revisiting of Speak Now, Swift made a modification to a controversial lyric found in "Better Than Revenge." This particular song was inspired by her ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas moving on with Camille Belle after their breakup. She decided to replace the line "She's better known for the things that she does / On the mattress, whoa" with "He was a moth to the flame / She was holding the matches, whoa." However, this change received mixed reactions from fans. Following Fearless and Red, which were both rereleased in 2022, Speak Now becomes the third album to receive the Taylor's Version treatment.
