The long-awaited moment has arrived - The Tortured Poets Department is now open for business.

On Friday, April 19, Taylor Swift unveiled her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department. This 16-track album showcases Swift's impressive songwriting skills, with each song drawing inspiration from her personal experiences, particularly her love life. The album also includes exciting collaborations with artists such as Post Malone, Florence and the Machine's Florence Welch, and more.

"The Tortured Poets Department. An anthology of new works that capture events, opinions, and emotions from a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time — a time that was both sensational and sorrowful," Swift shared on Instagram following the album release. "The chapter of the author's life has closed, with no need for revenge or settling scores once the wounds have healed."

She added, "Upon reflection, many of these wounds were self-inflicted. The writer believes that our tears become sacred when transformed into ink on a page. By sharing our saddest stories, we can find freedom. All that remains is the tortured poetry. THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT IS NOW AVAILABLE."

Following the release of TTPD, Taylor Swift, who is 34 years old, will be releasing the music video for her collaboration with Post Malone called "Fortnight." She announced that this song is the album's first single and the video will be released on Thursday, April 18th.

Taylor expressed her admiration for Post Malone, praising him for his songwriting skills, musical experimentation, and catchy melodies. She shared a picture of them together on Instagram and mentioned that she had the opportunity to witness their collaboration on "Fortnight" firsthand. The music video is set to premiere at 8 p.m. ET on Friday.

Swift started her new musical chapter by revealing TTPD at the 2024 Grammys. During her acceptance speech for Best Pop Vocal Album for Midnights in February, she excitedly shared, "I have a secret to tell you that I've been hiding for two years - my new album will be released on April 19th."

In typical Swift style, she kept the excitement going for TTPD by revealing that the album would have several bonus versions with special singles. Additionally, she delighted Swifties by hiding numerous Easter eggs throughout the album.

During a February Eras Tour concert in Melbourne, Australia, Swift expressed how writing the album was like a lifeline for her. She mentioned that it reminded her of the importance of songwriting in her life, especially during the making of Tortured Poets.

Apart from giving a sneak peek of some TTPD lyrics before its release, Swift also introduced five specially curated playlists on Apple Music. These playlists were based on the five stages of heartbreak: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance.

Each playlist on TTPD was named after a track on the album to give insight into its themes. The playlists include: “I Love You, It’s Ruining My Life Songs,” “You Don’t Get to Tell Me About Sad Songs,” “Am I Allowed to Cry? Songs,” “Old Habits Die Screaming Songs” and “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart Songs.”

Two days before the release of TTPD, X blocked certain search terms on its platform due to reports of a leaked Google Drive file containing the album. Swifties showed their support for Swift, who did not address the leak publicly at that time.

Some fans expressed their frustration online, urging others not to discuss the leaked album. One fan wrote, "Please refrain from talking about TTPD, even if you have heard a leak. Let's keep it off the timeline, simple as that." Another fan suggested creating fake tracks for TTPD to confuse whether the leaks were real or not.
