Certain keywords have been banned from X amid rumors that Taylor Swift's upcoming album, The Tortured Poets Department, has leaked online.
The social media platform took action on Wednesday, April 17, by prohibiting users from searching the phrase "Taylor Swift leak." This decision came just two days before the official release date of the album. Fans have been sharing snippets of songs online, speculating that they may be from The Tortured Poets Department. Some believe these leaked songs originated from a Google drive containing the full record.
After the music was shared online, Swfities quickly defended the pop star by filling the tags with fake TTPD links and criticizing those actively looking for leaks that have not been verified as real or fake.
One fan expressed, "Please refrain from mentioning TTPD. Even if you haven't posted the leaked song, if you've heard it, don't discuss it on the timeline. It's that simple." Another fan stated, "If I come across a 'ttpd leak,' regardless of whether it's meant to be funny, I will report it immediately."
Another person chimed in, suggesting, "Let's create fake AI tracks for TTPD to confuse everyone about the authenticity of the leaks."
This wouldn't be the first time one of Swift's albums has been leaked before its official release. In 2014, her album 1989 was leaked three days before its scheduled drop date, despite Swift's efforts to keep the music secret.
During an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! in October 2014, Swift revealed her fears of security invasion, wiretaps, and people eavesdropping. She mentioned that the only copy of her album for months was on her phone.
This story is ongoing.
