Khloé Kardashian celebrated Independence Day by sharing a rare photo of her and ex Tristan Thompson's 11-month-old son, Tatum. The reality star, aged 39, took to Instagram on July 4 to post pictures from the festivities. One of the snaps captured Kardashian's little one enjoying a slice of watermelon and a strawberry, seated beside a fruit platter designed to resemble the American flag.
In April 2018, Kardashian became a mother to her daughter True with Thompson. The couple, who had an on-and-off relationship since 2016, later expanded their family through surrogacy with their son Tatum. However, their relationship faced controversy when Thompson was involved in a paternity scandal with Maralee Nichols. Nichols made headlines in December 2021 when she filed a child support lawsuit against Thompson, claiming that he got her pregnant in March 2021 while he was still with Kardashian. Thompson confirmed his paternity through social media in January 2022.

Later that year, a source exclusively told We that Kardashian and Thompson weren’t giving their romance another shot.
The co-founder of Good American recently opened up about the highs and lows of motherhood on her Hulu series, The Kardashians. In a season 3 episode that aired in June, Kardashian talked about her experience of feeling a slower connection to her son compared to the immediate bond she felt after giving birth to True.
"It's a very different experience when you compare it to True and him, especially in terms of the connection," she explained. "It took me a few days with True to fully realize, 'Yes, this is my daughter.' It was just a matter of days. But with him, it has taken me months. I do love him and I have a love for kids, but I haven't quite developed that complete bond yet. Many people say it just takes time."
Kardashian expressed remorse for not forming a stronger bond with her son earlier. She admitted feeling occasional guilt and questioning why their relationship isn't the same. However, she affirmed that she treats him equally and acknowledged that being a mother is a truly enchanting experience. In addition, she emphasized that she had no intentions of reconciling with Thompson, as she stated earlier in the same month.
Tristan and I have always had a great relationship. We share a strong friendship and put our differences aside for the sake of our children. I don't see the point in holding onto past drama. It's in the past, and I won't punish him because we're not getting back together.
I've established boundaries that allow us to focus on co-parenting. When I'm not around, he takes care of the kids. I prefer him being there over hiring a nanny. Of course, there are still boundaries that I enforce. We're never just hanging out alone; it's always about the kids.
She stated, "After the cheating scandal, I reconciled with him. Therefore, I understand that Tristan may have the impression that I will eventually get back together with him. However, it is my responsibility to establish boundaries and demonstrate through my actions that this is not the case. I keep our interactions brief and pleasant, and I emphasize that my focus is solely on our children. I refuse to allow those past habits to reenter my life as they do not align with my desires."
