When it comes to hand-me-downs, this dress is a winner. Sydney Sweeney showed up at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party on Sunday, March 10, rocking the same cream silk gown that Angelina Jolie wore to the 2004 Academy Awards.
The backless gown, created by Marc Bouwer, had ruching around the waist and a delicate shawl that both actresses wore gracefully draped over their wrists.
Even though Jolie, now 48, and 26-year-old Sweeney wore the gown two decades apart, they both styled it in a similar fashion. They both chose to accessorize with layered jewel necklaces that perfectly matched the dress' deep neckline.

Sweeney also rocked a similar eye makeup look to Jolie's from 2004, featuring winged eyeliner, smokey eye shadow, and matte lipstick.
The main contrast between their appearances is in their hairstyles. Jolie opted for a sleek bun with her brunette hair, whereas Sweeney went for soft, face-framing waves with her short blonde hair.
That day, Bouwer posted on Instagram pictures of Sweeney in the famous gown and a throwback photo of Jolie wearing it 20 years ago.
In the caption, he wrote: "Sharing from the past. Angelina Jolie wore this to the Oscars in 2004, and now it's on the lovely @sydney_sweeney. Celebrating its 20th anniversary with a fabulous revival."

Bouwer expressed gratitude to Sweeney's stylist, Molly Dickson, for her excellent styling.
Dickson then shared the outfit on her Instagram, expressing thanks to Bouwer for allowing them to access his archives for this special occasion.
During an interview with Vogue on Monday, March 11, Dickson shared the moment she and Sweeney fell in love with the dress. She recalled, "When I saw the Angelina gown, I was with Syd and I showed her and she was like, ‘Oh my God, we need to get that.’"
Dickson also mentioned the increasing popularity of archive and vintage pieces in recent years. She explained, "In the past couple years, archive and vintage pieces have become a lot more popular, not only for the sustainability but [because] it’s a different way for actors to present themselves."
