Nicole Kidman's Sensational Miu Miu Miniskirt Sparks Unprecedented Controversy on ‘Vanity Fair’ Cover

Nicole Kidman is well aware of the talk surrounding her Vanity Fair cover from February 2022.

The 56-year-old actress took a bold fashion leap by appearing on the front page in a minuscule Miu Miu miniskirt. The skirt, which made its debut on the fashion brand's spring/summer 2022 runway, had a pleated design and left Kidman's backside almost exposed. She paired the skirt with a deconstructed crop top from the luxury label and heeled loafers.

"I have a tendency to make spontaneous and unconventional decisions," Kidman shared during her guest appearance on Stellar magazine's "Something to Talk About" podcast on Sunday, July 16. This interview coincides with her feature on the magazine's latest cover. "I refer to them as 'teenage choices' because I rarely consider the consequences. A part of my mind simply doesn't operate that way. Instead, I simply think, 'Oh, I'll wear that; it reminds me of my school uniform.' Or, 'Oh my God, yes, I'd love to wear that.'"

She further explained, "I strive to maintain this mindset because I believe it helps me avoid feeling scared or concerned."

Kidman previously opened up about the miniskirt to Vogue in May 2022, confessing that she begged to wear the look.

Kidman remembered, "I was thinking, 'No way, I really love this one! Can I actually wear it?'" She continued, "My stylist, Katie Grand, was surprised and asked me, 'You're actually willing to wear that?!'" Kidman replied excitedly, "Wear it?! I'm practically begging you to let me wear it!"

Apart from Kidman, other celebrities such as Emily Ratajkowski, Emma Corrin, Hailey Bieber, Naomi Campbell, Hunter Schafer, and Zendaya have also embraced the daring choice of wearing the skirt.

Since going viral, Kidman has consistently impressed on covers and red carpets.

During the premiere of her latest series, Special Ops: Lioness, in London on July 11, Kidman dazzled in a black halter gown designed by Saint Laurent. The stunning ensemble showcased a bodice that was fully exposed and accompanied by a cape. Kidman complemented the dress with delicate sheer gloves and styled her hair in an elegant updo, framing her face with soft tendrils.

Earlier that day, Kidman was seen wearing a stylish gray suit from Ferragamo, paired with elegant pointed-toe boots.

Kidman is currently featured in Special Ops: Lioness, a TV show where she stars alongside Zoe Saldana. The series revolves around Saldana's character Joe, who strives to maintain a delicate balance between her personal and professional life as a key operative in the CIA's fight against terror, according to IMDb.

The show also stars Morgan Freeman, Michael Kelly and Dave Annable.
