Taylor Swift's publicist, Tree Paine, is adamantly pushing for her client to not be associated with the rumor about her ex, Joe Alwyn. Paine took to social media on November 30 to address an Instagram Story from DeuxMoi that speculated Swift and Alwyn had married in secret before their breakup. The account suggested a ceremony occurred in 2020 or 2021, but clarified that it was not a legally binding marriage.
Paine took to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday night sharing a screenshot of the blind item and expressing her frustration with Deuxmoi. She stated, "Enough with these fabricated lies about Taylor. There was NEVER a marriage or ceremony of ANY kind. This is an insane thing to post. It’s time for you to be held accountable for the pain and trauma you cause with posts like these." Swift’s fans supported Paine's response, but DeuxMoi continued to push the marriage narrative, despite the anonymous nature of the account.
“While I don't earn anything from lying... can publicists claim the same,” said a later Instagram Story from the account. “Also, trying to connect something from years ago to ‘pain & trauma’ after the recent events seems like a bad choice of words. Either way, I apologize to Taylor.”
In April, it was confirmed that Swift and Alwyn had ended their relationship. According to an exclusive source, their decision was influenced by fame.
The insider noted that Joe, a very shy person, never enjoyed the attention that came with dating one of the most popular singers in the world. It was emphasized that Swift was not the cause of the breakup, as Joe simply didn't like constantly being in the public eye.
The couple first became linked in 2017 and made efforts to keep their romance private despite Swift's superstar status. Their relationship inspired Swift to write several songs, and Alwyn even collaborated with her to write a few songs on the 2020 albums Folklore and Evermore.

Swift and Alwyn's split shocked fans, leading many to wonder if there were warning signs before the breakup. When Swift released "You're Losing Me (From the Vault)" on streaming, listeners tried to piece together when the song was produced. The breakup song first debuted in May as part of a special edition of Midnights, only available to concertgoers at the MetLife Stadium dates of Swift's Eras Tour. This sparked debate among fans about whether the song was written before or after the split.

Jack Antonoff, her long-time collaborator, clarified the timeline on Wednesday, revealing that "You're Losing Me" was written over a year before the breakup. He shared a photo of Swift in a kitchen on his Instagram Story, announcing, "'You're Losing Me' is out today, a very special track from the Midnights sessions that’s finally streaming! Written and recorded at home on 12/5/21 after Taylor ate these raisins." Swift briefly dated The 1975’s Matty Healy after the split before moving on with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce this fall. There has been no extensive address of their breakup from either Swift or Alwyn.
