Squid Game: Unveiling the Hidden Facts about the Prize Pool

Discover the astonishing truth behind the prize fund of Squid Game: The Challenge as a former player unveils the shocking details Unveiling new revelations, this article exposes the hidden secrets of the highly anticipated show

The conclusion of Squid Game: The Challenge has brought forth new revelations, including details about the $4.56 million prize fund from a beloved player. Netflix's monumental reality TV show began with 456 players and a staggering $4.56 million up for grabs for the ultimate victor.

The success of the series has led to a flood of applications for Season 2 on Netflix. If you're interested in applying, you can find out how here.

Amidst the many stories that have come out in the past week, Season 1 winner Mai Whelan has not received any of the prize money. However, there is more to this story than meets the eye.

Squid Game: The Challenge player reveals truth about prize fund

After the intense finale last Wednesday, it came to light that Mai (Player 287) still hasn't been paid, even though filming finished in February – although beloved contestant Bee (Player 018) disputes this claim.

Taking to X, she messaged: "Just to clarify here. We were all aware that the prize wouldn't be awarded until a certain number of days after filming. The press has distorted Mai's genuine response into a non-issue. It's predictable but disappointing to see these sensationalist headlines."

Mai's remarks were made in a post-victory interview with The Times, in which she revealed that she has not received any of the money from Netflix. "I feel like Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire. Show me the money!" she exclaimed.

However, as Bee pointed out, this is typical for a show of this nature. In response to her post, one user X stated, "It also doesn’t help that most times the prizes aren’t given till after the final episode airs. So this is not a big surprise. I hope she gets it soon."

Bee responded, "She definitely will - this isn't just some strange backyard production. The media will do anything to create a negative headline about the show."

"Just wait until they discover that Americans are taxed on prize money, so she'll never see around 2 million of that," said another. Bee replied, "This is the real scandal."

Mai, being a US citizen, will likely be subject to a 37% tax charge on the funds, which would not have been the case if she were from the UK. For more information, click here.

As an enthusiastic fan of Squid Game, I am both intrigued and concerned by the recent revelations about the prize pool. On one hand, it is exciting to learn more about the behind-the-scenes workings of the show and the challenges faced by the players. The fact that the winner, Mai Whelan, has not yet received her prize money is surprising and raises questions about the production and financial management of the show.

On the other hand, I am also concerned about the potential impact of these revelations on the overall perception of the show and its future. Squid Game has been a global phenomenon, capturing the attention of millions of viewers and generating significant buzz. However, if issues related to prize payments and transparency arise, it could damage the show's reputation and affect its long-term success. I hope that Netflix and the production team will address these concerns promptly and ensure that all players are treated fairly and compensated accordingly.
