The Spice Girls celebrated the 30th anniversary of their first auditions by taking fans back to where it all started. The band's official X account shared a post on Monday, March 4, announcing the special milestone.
The group known as the Spice Girls, consisting of Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisolm, and Victoria Beckham, was formed in 1994 by Heart Management. They were created to rival the popular British boy bands of the mid-90s and gained fame with their hit song "Wannabe" in 1996.
In celebration of their milestone anniversary, the Spice Girls recently shared footage from their original auditions. The video montage showcases Bunton, Halliwell, Brown, Chisolm, and Beckham when they were young and hopeful before taking on their iconic personas as Baby Spice, Ginger Spice, Scary Spice, Sporty Spice, and Posh Spice.
The throwback video showed them learning choreography and practicing vocals before they became a worldwide phenomenon, resulting in a pop legacy and a legion of fans.
The band's X account expressed gratitude to their fans for their continuous support since 1994, saying that their journey has exceeded all expectations.
Their hit song "Wannabe" reached the top of the charts in the U.S. and the U.K. The Spice Girls remained popular in the U.K. even after their hiatus in 2000. They reunited for a global tour in 2007 and again in 2018, this time without Beckham.
