Sophia Bush looked so happy as she attended her first Pride event after publicly coming out as queer in April.

The 41-year-old One Tree Hill actress posted pictures of herself at a Pride festival on Monday, June 3, with her friends on her Instagram Story.

In the photos, Bush was seen wearing a black T-shirt that said, "Go Gays," which she tucked into a pair of high-waisted flare jeans. Her friends also sported the same top as they posed together in front of a rainbow balloon arch.

In another picture, Bush flashed a smile as she received a hug and kiss on the cheek from one of her friends. She held a large cup in her right hand while snapping a selfie with her left hand.

Pride Month started on June 1 to honor the LGBTQIA+ community and the 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York City.

The following day, Bush shared a heartfelt message about the significance of Pride Month to her as a queer woman.

"You are amazing. It may take some time, but you will eventually find your tribe," Bush shared on Instagram Story on Sunday, June 2. "They will support you in discovering more about yourself. Remember, you are valuable and deserving of this journey."

She also shared a quote from the We the Urban social media account that emphasized the significance of pride. The quote stated, "Pride is crucial because there are people out there who feel it's better to not exist than to embrace their true selves."

Bush has become more open about her sexuality in the past few months since publicly coming out in April.

In an essay for Glamour, Bush shared, “As I became more comfortable with myself, I realized that my sexuality is a part of who I am. I have always believed that my sexuality is diverse and complex. Currently, I feel that the term 'queer' best describes it. Saying it makes me smile, and that feels really good.”

After sharing her story with fans, the Chicago P.D. alum expressed feeling a sense of relief. She mentioned, "I finally feel like I can breathe. I feel like I was wearing a weighted vest for who knows how long. I hadn’t realized how heavy it was until I finally just put it down."

Following her divorce from Grant Hughes in August 2023, Bush opened up about her sexual identity. She then found love with soccer star Ashlyn Harris, who had also filed for divorce from her wife, Ali Krieger, in October 2023. (Harris and Krieger have two children together.)

Bush and Harris, aged 38, went public with their relationship in April at the White House Correspondents Dinner. Despite rumors of engagement, they clarified that they are not currently engaged after Bush faced criticism for concealing her left hand in a photo.

Even though they are not planning to tie the knot, the couple has been enjoying spending time together. Recently, they traveled to Paris and even shared a romantic kiss in front of the Eiffel Tower. Harris expressed his love for Bush in an Instagram post from their trip, saying, "Chasing sunsets with you is my favorite."

Editor's P/S:

Sophia Bush's attendance at her first Pride event after coming out as queer is a significant milestone in her journey of self-discovery and acceptance. Her participation in the celebration highlights the importance of visibility and representation for the LGBTQIA+ community, especially for those who may have felt marginalized or invisible in the past. By sharing her experience and her evolving understanding of her sexuality, Bush is not only inspiring others but also contributing to a more inclusive and understanding society.

Bush's openness about her sexual identity is commendable and refreshing. Her willingness to embrace the term "queer" and her emphasis on the diversity and fluidity of sexuality are important reminders that there is no single or "correct" way to identify. Her journey also demonstrates the transformative power of self-acceptance and the importance of finding a supportive community that celebrates and affirms one's true self.
