Sophia Bush and her girlfriend Ashlyn Harris were seen looking very comfortable at an afterparty for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. This event marked their first public appearance as a couple on the red carpet.

The WHCD afterparty, which took place on April 27, was hosted by Amazon MGM Studios at the residence of the Swiss Ambassador, Jacques Pitteloud, in Washington, D.C. Bush and Harris were spotted together, posing for photos and enjoying the evening.

The couple looked stylish in matching black Harbison Studio outfits with gold embellishments. They posed closely for photos, sharing a laugh as the soccer player whispered something in Bush's ear.

Later that day, the couple made their red carpet debut together after walking separately for the 31st annual White House Correspondents' Garden Brunch.

The ex-U.S. Women’s National Team goalkeeper and former One Tree Hill star started dating in late 2023, right after both had separated from their partners: Ali Krieger and Grant Hughes.

After their first date, a source shared, "Sophia and Ashlyn claim they're just friends, but everyone could see the instant chemistry between them. They enjoy each other's company, share a love for sports, and are passionate about making a positive impact in the world."

Bush recently opened up about her sexuality in a self-written cover story for Glamour magazine. She shared her truth and addressed rumors about cheating on her ex-husband, Hughes, before their divorce. In her essay, Bush emphasized that her decision to end her marriage was a result of deep introspection and personal growth. She expressed that the journey towards self-discovery was a long and challenging process that required vulnerability and courage. Despite not sharing every detail on social media, Bush made it clear that her path to self-acceptance was thoughtful and deliberate.

She shared that she doesn't consider herself straight. "I always felt like this was where I belonged as I grew into myself. I've always felt that my sexuality is diverse," Bush revealed. "Right now, I think 'queer' is the best word to describe it. It makes me smile just saying it. And that feels really good."

She mentioned feeling safe, respected, and loved within the queer community, both as an ally and a member. However, she expressed her dislike for the idea of having to come out in 2024.

She continued, "But I want to acknowledge that we are having this conversation during a time when the LGBTQIA+ community is facing the most aggressive attacks in recent history. In 2023, there were over 500 anti-LGBTQIA+ bills introduced in state legislatures. That's why I believe it's important to give the act of coming out the respect and recognition it deserves."

She then shared, "I finally feel a sense of relief. It's hard to put into words how significant this is for me. It's like I've been carrying a heavy weight for so long without even realizing it. And now, I feel like I can finally breathe freely."
