When is it?
CODMAS 2023: What You Need to Know
CODMAS begins December 19 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET and runs through January 3 at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET. That should give players a good amount of time to check out the content during any breaks they might have from work or school.
Santa's Slayground event
The Santa's Slayground event offers players the chance to complete up to eight challenges and unlock special gear such as the "Christmas Skulls" calling card, the "Elfsecution" finishing move, and a special weapon blueprint and operator skin. These challenges can be completed across multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone to earn the special gear.

Map makeovers and new modes
As part of the CODMAS event, the beloved multiplayer maps Shipment and Highrise are receiving holiday-themed updates and will be known as "Shipmas" and "Hangover," respectively. Hangover introduces cosmetic elements like snowmen and Christmas lights, while Shipmas also has snowy features. In terms of new modes, multiplayer is introducing "Infectious Holiday" and "Snowfight" as part of the CODMAS event. In Infectious Holiday mode, all players become Santa, with infected players transforming into Zombie Santa. Snowfight, on the other hand, is a variation of Gunfight where players throw snowballs in the first two rounds to eliminate opponents. From the third round onwards, players can use regular weapons or search for snowballs on the map. There is also a special yellow snowball on the map that offers a one-hit kill.

Zombies
In the Zombies mode, the CODMAS event introduces holiday-themed music and snowballs to the map. Players can use these snowballs to take down zombies.
Warzone
In the Warzone battle royale mode, "Slay Ride Resurgence" is part of the CODMAS event. Players have the opportunity to board the train on Urzikstan and defeat Santa in order to earn special gear and an emblem.
The map of Warzone will feature six capture points themed as "Deck the Halls" trees. Players standing near a tree without enemies nearby will collect festive decorations for the tree, which can be upgraded to Tiers 2 and 3 to enhance the value of loot. In other words, the more festively decorated your tree is, the higher quality rewards you will unlock.
Activision has also mentioned that there will be "CODMAS-related secrets" hidden throughout the map during the event.
What can you buy?
The CODMAS event brings a refresh to the in-game store, featuring the "Paindeer" Operator bundle for 2,400 COD Points ($20). This bundle transforms your character's head into a reindeer, and includes a weapon blueprint and other themed items.
The Paindeer bundle is currently available for $20.
The Vortex
Following CODMAS, the new event "The Vortex" will launch on January and run through January 17. The update includes three Vortex-themed map updates for core multiplayer: Tetanus, Satan's Quarry, and Sporeyard, which are updated versions of Rust, Quarry, and Scrapyard. Each map has an eerie sci-fi vibe, and can be seen in the images below. The Vortex event concludes on January 17.

Editor's P/S
As a dedicated fan of Call of Duty, I am thrilled about the upcoming CODMAS 2023 event in Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone. The festive holiday event promises an exhilarating experience with its exciting challenges, revamped maps, and unique game modes. The chance to unlock exclusive gear, such as the "Christmas Skulls" calling card and the "Elfsecution" finishing move, adds an extra layer of excitement to the event. I can't wait to dive into the holiday-themed chaos and immerse myself in the festive atmosphere that CODMAS brings to the game.
The introduction of snowballs as a new element in multiplayer and Zombies mode adds a fun and refreshing twist to the gameplay. The holiday-themed updates to classic maps like Shipment and Highrise, now known as "Shipmas" and "Hangover," promise a visually captivating experience. The new modes, "Infectious Holiday" and "Snowfight," offer unique challenges and opportunities for players to showcase their skills in different ways. The addition of holiday-themed music and snowballs in the Zombies mode further enhances the festive spirit of the event.
