The latest release of Call of Duty: Warzone, Season 4, is now available, and it brings significant changes to the game's health bars. However, the alterations don't end there as the update also introduces Warzone 2.0. This popular battle royale game was released a week before Thanksgiving in 2022 and is the third installment in the Call of Duty franchise. While it has received favorable reviews, player retention has been low, but this hasn't stopped Activision from continuing to provide post-release content, with Season 4 being the latest addition.
In the recent update posted on the official Call of Duty website, players can expect a plethora of new weapons, operators, and a brand new Vondel map. However, the most interesting gameplay tweak lies in the player's health bar, which has been raised from 100 to 150HP, with a maximum upgrade threshold of 300 when wearing armor parts. Additionally, the regen delay has been increased from five to seven seconds, ultimately resulting in enemies taking longer to defeat.
To address the health system imbalance, other aspects of combat have been adjusted. Armor and ammo pickups are now standardized, with players automatically receiving nine armor plates and six from boxes. Ammunition counts are also consistent across all munitions boxes, ensuring players always have the necessary firepower. These changes could potentially improve the effectiveness of certain weapons, which have also undergone alterations. However, with low player retention and the significant gameplay shift, it remains to be seen how the community will react and how it will affect the game's meta in the long term. This sets a precedent for further gameplay alterations in future seasons.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 & Warzone Season 04 Patch Notes (Weapon Balancing):
The recent modifications made to Player Health and the implementation of Armor Damage have effectively led to a decrease in the Time to Kill, making it feel more gradual and easier to react to, regardless of the range of engagement.
The effectiveness of most Weapons will be affected by the change to Armor Damage, although the following select few Battle Rifles are listed below. It is worth noting that the term "Armor Damage" is being retired, and any Warzone-specific changes will be labeled "Warzone Only."
