The Big Picture
In a new SNL sketch, a debate over the second most important job ensues on a plane, leaving a pregnant person in labor without any help.
No one volunteers to help the woman in labor, despite the passengers debating the significance of their own occupations.
With clever dry humor and surprising turns, the sketch leaves a lasting and hilarious impression, featuring Dave Grohl in a doctor's attire.
In a life-or-death situation, having a nearby doctor is crucial. However, the latest episode of Saturday Night Live took a humorous twist by exploring what would happen if lawyers were the ones present instead. Hosted by Nate Bargatze and featuring the Foo Fighters as the musical guests, the sketch revealed a surprising appearance by Dave Grohl. However, when a pregnant passenger (Chloe Fineman) goes into labor on a plane, her cries for assistance only result in the announcement of Bargatze's "very important job" - being a lawyer.
Rather than coming to the aid of the woman in labor, Bargatze's declaration sparks a debate among the other passengers about the validity of a lawyer being the second most important job. A teacher tries to defend the importance of her profession, but is met with disapproval from everyone on board. Later, a mother stands up and receives applause, yet Bargatze insists on a serious discussion, reigniting the debate over the second best job after being a doctor. Another lawyer, Andrew Dismukes, suggests that an engineer holds that position. Meanwhile, Fineman's character remains in labor without any assistance from the passengers.
Can Someone Get Chloe Fineman a Doctor?
In the subsequent part of the sketch, Mikey Day enters as the pilot and acknowledges the significance of his job. However, he also confesses that the autopilot handles most of his tasks. Subsequently, Grohl appears dressed up as a doctor, albeit it being just his Halloween costume. Overall, the sketch is both simple and humorous, especially when Fineman humorously reminds the passengers that she still requires a doctor while they engage in a debate over whose job is more crucial.

The standout moment in the sketch is when Heidi Gardner, portraying a mother, humorously declares that her role is the most challenging. However, despite her statement, she remains seated and fails to assist Fineman, who is experiencing active labor. Even though all the characters boast about their important jobs, none of them extend a helping hand to Fineman in the end. This, along with Bargatze's dry sense of humor that is prominent throughout the entire episode, contributes to the sketch's success, making it a standout from the night. Watch the sketch below:
