Selena Gomez, who just turned 31, had a birthday celebration featuring a special screening of Greta Gerwig's movie Barbie. She enjoyed a dinner with her closest friends and her younger sister, Gracie Teefey, on July 22nd. Gracie, who is 9 years old and the only child of Gomez's mother, Mandy Teefey, and her husband, Brian Teefey, wore a pink t-shirt and matching jeans, while Gomez chose a more glamorous outfit. The star of "Only Murders in the Building" shared her stunning hot pink satin halter top dress on her Instagram Stories that day.
Gomez's friends also received the pink memo, donning their own Barbie-inspired attire complete with feather boas to celebrate the occasion. Prior to this, Gomez took a moment to reflect on turning 31, sharing a heartfelt birthday message.
"I express immense gratitude for numerous aspects of my life, and one of the utmost things I am grateful for is the exceptional work accomplished with the Rare Impact Fund through @Rarebeauty," she conveyed on Instagram, accompanied by an image of herself extinguishing candles on her birthday cake. "We have been able to enhance awareness and facilitate accessibility to mental health services for young individuals because of your support. This is genuinely my life's true passion."
She further expressed, "Many individuals keep inquiring about my birthday wishes, and my response remains the same - kindly refrain from acquiring gifts for me. However, if you wish to commemorate my birthday in some way, I earnestly request that you donate to the Rare Impact Fund. If you possess the means, kindly consider making a contribution to aid in our efforts to make a significant difference. I hold immense love for each and every one of you!"
Gomez — who also celebrated the festivities with a star-studded party later that night — and Gracie have been tight since her June 2013 birth.
Selena Gomez shared her excitement about attending the premiere of Frozen 2 with her younger sister Gracie and friends. During an interview on BBC One's Sounds show in December 2019, the former Disney Channel star expressed how amazing it felt to experience the red carpet event with Gracie. Selena mentioned that it was her favorite red carpet experience so far, emphasizing that they didn't push her sister into doing anything she wasn't comfortable with. While Selena and her family prioritize Gracie's safety, it seems that her sister has developed a love for fashion and all things sparkly.
Gomez continued, "I crouched down, making eye contact with her, and I reassured her, 'If you feel anxious or overwhelmed, just squeeze my hand and I'll remove you right away.' She responded with a simple 'Okay' and confidently stepped onto the carpet, immersing herself in the experience with the feathers."
Gomez and Gracie have since enjoyed more public outings together, attending events such as the 2023 Golden Globes and Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concert in Texas.
