During the recent episode of Sister Wives, Kody Brown shared his optimism about the possibility of repairing his relationship with his sons Gabriel and Garrison. Reflecting on his and Janelle Brown's kids, the 54-year-old confessed that he has been out of contact with Gabriel and Garrison for a significant period and expressed his sadness about the distance between them.

The patriarch expressed that there were numerous enriching and meaningful experiences shared in their lives. He remains optimistic that with time, they will heal and it will be safe to be reunited again.

Kody, on the other hand, expressed that he is currently facing a deadlock with his sons, Garrison (25) and Gabriel (21), as a result of their fallout during the COVID-19 pandemic. "At the moment, there is a lack of communication and openness between Gabe and Garrison," he stated, further alleging, "They are not willing to interact with me." In the previous season, viewers witnessed the deterioration of Kody's relationship with Gabriel and Garrison, as he accused them of being disrespectful towards him and his fourth wife, Robyn Brown, regarding his strict COVID-19 protocols.

Kody's insistence on the children apologizing at that time caused an even greater divide within the family. Consequently, Janelle and her six children, including Gabriel and Garrison, spent the 2021 holidays apart from Kody and Robyn. Alongside Gabriel and Garrison, Kody has other children named Logan, Maddie, Hunter, and Savanah who he shares with his estranged second wife, Janelle. It is worth mentioning that Janelle revealed in December 2022 that she and Kody had been "separated" for several months after nearly three decades of a spiritual marriage.

During the beginning of season 18, it became clear that the tension between Janelle and Kody over their sons had not been resolved.

Janelle expressed her concern for her sons' mental health during the October 8 episode, filmed in early 2022. She shared that Gabriel deeply feels emotions but tends to keep them to himself, while Garrison appears angrier and less happy-go-lucky than before.

Adding to the discussion, Gabriel spoke about his troubled relationship with his father. He explained that their disagreement over the handling of COVID-related issues created a divide, as his father failed to engage in meaningful conversation and instead put up a wall between them.

Despite the lack of improvement in Kody's relationship with Gabriel and Garrison by the time Sunday's episode was filmed in summer 2022, he had successfully repaired his relationship with Savanah.

According to Janelle's confession during the new episode, Kody has been actively working on his relationship with Savanah. "He is now spending more time with her compared to the earlier part of the year, that's for sure," Janelle shared. Kody himself described his dynamic with their youngest child as "sweet" and "gentle."

Kody not only separated from Janelle but also ended his relationship with his third wife, Christine Brown, in November 2021. Meri Brown, his first wife, confirmed in January that they are no longer romantically involved. It is worth noting that Kody is still legally married to Robyn.
