Having got married in 2019, the couple embarked on their David Foster & Friends tour throughout the summer. Their first Asian show was planned for Saturday, August 12, in Jakarta, Indonesia. There is no information yet on whether the recent tragic news will impact their upcoming performances.
Many celebrities and fans expressed their condolences in the comments section of McPhee's post. Nicole Scherzinger wrote, "Sending my love and prayers for your family ❤️," while Linda Thompson commented, "Sending you and David love and hoping that everything is OK."
Rumors of a romance between McPhee and Foster first emerged in May 2017. According to a source who spoke exclusively to Us in December 2017, "When Kat talks about David, her face lights up. She's really so happy... The age difference may be significant to some, but they make a cute and sensible couple." The pair got engaged a year later.
News of their first child together broke in October 2020, with reports that Katharine wanted to start a family right away. A trusted source shared, "Sara and Erin have great affection for Katharine and consider her a wonderful addition to their father's life." (As a reminder, Foster has six children from previous relationships, including B.J. Cook and Rebecca Dyer.)
David Foster and Katharine McPhee's son, Rennie, was born in February 2021. A representative for McPhee confirmed the joyous news, stating, "Kat McPhee and David Foster are now doting parents to a baby boy." An additional source shared, "The entire experience went smoothly, and both mother and baby are in good health."
Later in the same year, McPhee shared her exclusive experiences of spending time with her child with Us. In October 2021, she expressed her delight, stating, "At the moment, I believe he embodies the best qualities of both of us. Many people comment on how much he resembles his father, and although I see it too, I think he's a great blend of both of us."
She further expressed her anticipation for the upcoming stages of her child's development, particularly standing and walking. Despite common advice from parents to delay walking, she viewed it as an enjoyable and exciting transition. As of now, her child hasn't started crawling, but she found immense joy in witnessing his achievement of sitting up. This milestone brought her excitement and marked a significant moment in their journey together.
