Trainwreck, the spokesperson for Kick.com, has emphasized that the inflated numbers linked to Kick's past acquisitions are posing difficulties in discussions with other content producers.
The lack of transparency surrounding Adin Ross's agreement and the rumored $40 million proposal to Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed have created misconceptions and impractical hopes among content creators.
However, Kick remains committed to forging alliances with impactful content creators, including Fousey and a prominent female streamer on Twitch.
In a recent statement, Trainwreck, a renowned content creator and the current representative of Kick.com, a prominent competitor to the leading streaming platform Twitch, has highlighted a significant issue impacting the platform's recruitment of streamers. He pointed out that the inflated and speculative figures associated with Kick's previous signings are creating unintended challenges during negotiations with other content creators.
Since its establishment in December 2022, Kick has gained attention for its appealing Creator Program, surpassing that of Twitch. Shortly after, Kick announced the signing of well-known content creator Adin Ross. While reports indicated that Adin Ross secured a groundbreaking deal with Kick, the exact details remained undisclosed. Recently, Adin Ross himself claimed that Kick offered a jaw-dropping $40 million to both Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed to entice them away from their respective platforms and join Kick. As if these headlines were not enough, Kick made waves in June by announcing a staggering $100 million deal with popular streamer xQc.
The high numbers have undoubtedly contributed to Kick's increased advertising, but Trainwreck brings attention to the negative consequences. He claims that the exaggerated numbers circulating in the media and among the community are making contract negotiations difficult for other creators, both mid-sized and larger ones. While smaller creators focus on discoverability and fair compensation, the sensationalized financial discussions surrounding major signings are distorting perceptions. Trainwreck suggests that these figures may not be accurate and could be greatly exaggerated.
He mentions that some creators, feeling influential, are now demanding much higher compensation based on these possibly manipulated numbers. This situation is creating unrealistic expectations and making the negotiation process challenging for the platform. It is worth noting that xQc's signing, which caused a lot of buzz, may have played a significant role in starting this discussion. Notably, Logan Paul, a YouTuber-turned-boxer, recently expressed doubt about xQc's deal with Kick, raising questions about the actual financial arrangement.
Despite facing obstacles, Kick is successfully expanding its reach by forming partnerships with renowned content creators on a global scale. In their latest move, they have welcomed the popular American streamer, Fousey, to their team after he faced suspension from Twitch twice within a span of one week. Furthermore, Kick has recently onboarded one of the leading female creators on Twitch.
