On April 29, 2023, Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell grace the 2023 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner held at the Washington Hilton in Washington, DC. The event was captured by Paul Morigi/Getty Images.
Jerry O’Connell is aware of the buzz surrounding John Stamos' latest book, but he prefers not to get involved in the discussion. During a recent interview on Access, O’Connell, 49, was asked about the memoir and he chose to keep his response concise when it came to Stamos' revelations about Rebecca Romijn. "I don't feel it's my position to comment," O’Connell stated. "I would rather let my wife address that topic."
Although he had no prior knowledge of the contents of Stamos' book before it was published, O'Connell humorously refrained from saying too much in order to maintain peace with Romijn. "My wife and I are in a great place right now," he joked.
Stamos, 60, and Romijn were married from 1998 to 2005. In his book If You Would Have Told Me, which was released on Tuesday, October 24, Stamos suggested that there was a "betrayal" that led to the couple's quiet separation in 2003.
“We are exploring new endeavors and experiencing personal growth individually, but our paths are not aligning,” Stamos expressed, citing Romijn's busy schedule and new circle of friends as reasons for her unawareness of his emotional distance.
Despite the inevitable ups and downs they faced, Stamos held onto the hope that it was merely a temporary situation. However, the topic of starting a family and having children was never addressed. Stamos reminisced, "This was our shared plan, our heartfelt vision. It seems as though she no longer shares that vision with me."

Stamos noticed a change in their once enjoyable relationship and hoped for a resolution. However, he observed that she smiled less, avoided eye contact during dinner, and took phone calls in another room. The feeling of betrayal grew within him, clouding his thoughts and ultimately leading to the realization of an expected truth. He expressed that there was nothing left to say, and what seemed like a passing phase was her way of completely cutting him out.
With the divorce being officially filed in August 2004, it was later denied by a representative for the couple that infidelity was a factor in their separation, before the proceedings were finalized in 2005.
Romijn proceeded to be with O’Connell and the couple exchanged vows in 2007. They are parents to the fifteen-year-old twins Dolly and Charlie.
On the other hand, Stamos wed Caitlin McHugh in February 2018, just two months prior to the birth of their son, Billy.
After their divorce, Stamos and Romijn successfully avoided crossing paths, despite residing in the same neighborhood in Calabasas, California. Nevertheless, O’Connell assured Andy Cohen in October 2021 that any encounters would be amicable.
"I haven't seen him," he playfully remarked on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. "But I make sure my hair is flawless every day, just in case. I'm keeping an eye out. It would be extremely friendly if we did bump into each other."
Romijn recently caught a glimpse of her ex-husband while they were both out and about. Despite seeing him for the first time since their breakup, they didn't have any interaction. She recounted the incident during an episode of The Talk in May 2022, mentioning that she spotted him while stuck in after-school traffic with their children. Romijn shared that her ex-husband was walking in front of their car, wearing a cap and sunglasses. When O'Connell asked why she didn't greet him, she admitted that she was having a bad hair day. Romijn jokingly added that he wouldn't have wanted her there either, as it would have been his worst nightmare.
