Shocking Revelation: Tom Bergeron Unveils the Jaw-Dropping 'Dancing with the Stars' Betrayal Behind His Departure

Tom Bergeron reflects on his departure from Dancing with the Stars, expressing the profound realization that marked the end of his cherished role as host

Tom Bergeron discovered the pivotal moment when he realized his tenure as host of "Dancing with the Stars" had reached its conclusion. Commencing in 2005, Bergeron steered the series until his departure in 2020. During an enlightening discussion on Cheryl Burke's "Sex, Lies and Spray Tans" podcast, the former "DWTS" professional unveiled that his exit ultimately boiled down to political matters.

In 2019, Bergeron revealed that he advised the show's executives to refrain from casting any politicians in order to avoid fueling the existing divisiveness. However, he was taken aback when they informed him of the actual casting decision.

"The previous showrunner cautioned me, ‘You might want to prepare yourself for this final one.’ I inquired why, and that's when they disclosed the identity of the person," he recounted.

The producer admitted to casting Sean Spicer, the former White House press secretary.

"I warned them against making this decision. I told them not to go down that path. It's simply not the right time. Let's focus on our strengths and create a show that offers people a respite from all the nonsense," Bergeron reminisced.

When Bergeron suggested he could take the season off, producers offered to let him out of his contract, leaving him "pissed off."

"Thats how strongly they felt," Bergeron said.

Bergeron expressed his anger and released a statement regarding Spicer's casting.

"I drafted a statement that did not mention anyone's name or political affiliation," he explained. "It simply stated that I was informed of certain things when I was asked for my opinion, which we agreed upon. However, now they have surprised me with a different decision. I even acknowledged that it is within their rights as the show's producers to make that choice. We will have to accept our differing opinions."

He reached a realization, "At that very moment, I realized that this would most likely be my final season due to that betrayal. Up until then, I had encountered individuals of integrity."

"They had deceived me. I will retaliate," he stated. "However, I wanted the audience to be aware that this crossed a line for me. It was a step too far, especially in the midst of an election year. And just to clarify, if it were a Democrat, my reaction would remain the same."
