Sharon Osbourne stopped taking Ozempic a “while” ago, but she claims she’s still having trouble gaining her weight back.
“I’m extremely underweight and unable to gain any weight,” Osbourne, 71, conveyed in an interview with the Daily Mail published on Friday, November 17. “I genuinely desire to put on some weight because I feel excessively thin. I am currently below 100 pounds, a weight that I am not comfortable with. One should be cautious about their desires.”
Osbourne disclosed that she began using Ozempic, a semaglutide injection that reduces blood sugar levels, in December 2022. “I have been off it for some time now and my cautionary advice is to not administer it to teenagers as it is too effortless,” she included. “It is possible to shed a significant amount of weight and develop an addiction to it, which can be extremely perilous. I was unable to halt the weight loss and have already lost 42 pounds, reaching a point where I cannot afford to lose any more.”
Osbourne previously shared the negative side effects she experienced while using Ozempic, a medication that has gained popularity as an off-label weight loss treatment. During an episode of the U.K.’s The Talk in May, she revealed, "I had a rough time for a couple of months." Osbourne explained that she constantly felt nauseous and had an upset stomach throughout the first few months of taking the drug.
She also mentioned that she took Ozempic for a total of four months. Although her appetite returned once she stopped using the medication, she found it difficult to gain weight, regardless of her normal eating habits. "I eat normally now, but I haven't gained a single pound. Absolutely nothing," she asserted.

Osbourne is among several celebrities who have spoken out about Ozempic and similar medications in recent months. Some, like Dolores Catania and Emily Simpson, credit the drug with aiding in weight loss. However, others have mentioned encountering side effects similar to the ones Osbourne described.
A year ago, I decided to give it a try. I was one of those individuals who felt extremely ill and unable to engage in activities with my son," Amy Schumer revealed in a June interview on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. "I was really thin and he was throwing a ball at me, but I couldn't even react."
The 42-year-old comedian mentioned that the negative effects compelled her to take a break from the medication. "I thought to myself, 'This is not a sustainable situation for me,'" she further explained. However, she quickly recognized the significance and popularity of the drug, and therefore decided to invest in it.
Earlier this month, celebrity trainer Jillian Michaels expressed her appreciation for the honesty shown by some celebrities when discussing their use of Ozempic. However, she also cautioned those celebrities to exercise caution and be cautious, as Ozempic may not be what they believe it to be, and they cannot rely on others to be truthful about its effects.
