Shania Twain has joined the Barbie Universe. She shared a funny video on Instagram on Thursday, March 7. In the video, the 58-year-old singer was filled with excitement as she received her unique Barbie doll for the first time.

A Mattel representative handed Shania the official Shania Twain Barbie doll. She examined it closely, seeing that it was wearing her iconic "Man! I Feel Like A Woman" outfit. Shania then asked for a moment to herself before stepping away and shouting, "SUBLIME!" After her enthusiastic reaction, she calmly returned and simply said, "Approved."

In a funny video captioned with a laughing crying emoji, Shania explained, "I had to."

Twain’s video paid homage to a famous scene in the Oscar-nominated movie Barbie. In the scene, Ryan Gosling’s character, Ken, enthusiastically exclaims “sublime” after Barbie (played by Margot Robbie) asks him to be her “long-term distance, low commitment, casual girlfriend” in his Mojo Dojo Casa House. He then pauses to consider her proposal seriously.

In a November interview with Variety, director Greta Gerwig shared the behind-the-scenes story of how this iconic moment was created for the movie.

Ryan had the idea of Ken having a private moment that Barbie can hear. In Barbie Land, there are no walls or privacy," she explained. Then, I must give myself credit for coming up with the word 'sublime.' I kept thinking, what's the funniest word? 'Sublime' kept coming back to me. It's such an odd word. But I let him do many things because, why not? He said some very long sentences that he shouted. One of them was, 'Finally! My rainbow after the storm!'

Shania Twain recently shared a post on her Instagram account. In a press release by Mattel on Thursday, March 7, it was announced that Twain, along with seven other celebrities, has been honored with their own Barbie doll. This special recognition is part of the celebration for International Women’s Day and marks the start of Barbie’s 65th anniversary. Other notable personalities who also received this honor include Viola Davis, Helen Mirren, Kylie Minogue, Nicole Fujita, Enissa Amani, Lil Avilés, and Maira Gomez.

In a recent post on Wednesday, March 6, Twain shared a photo of herself smiling against a bright pink backdrop. She was posing with a doll that looked just like her. Twain expressed her excitement by captioning the post with, "Ladies and gentlemen... HER." She also shared a heartfelt message about her love for Barbie and how special it was to have her own unique doll.

Twain couldn't contain her happiness as she wrote, "I am so honored to be recognized as a Barbie role model – I have my own one-of-a-kind Barbie doll!! Pinch me!!" She went on to express her lifelong dream of sharing stories of empowerment, independence, and self-expression through her music. Twain feels privileged to inspire women and girls with her music and is grateful for the opportunity to be a role model in the Barbie world. She thanked @barbie and Mattel for creating a doll that reflects her and expressed her love for it.

The Barbie movie debuted in July 2023 and has been nominated for eight Oscars. Among the nominations are two for Best Original Song. Actor Gosling, 43, will perform one of the songs at the awards show on Sunday, March 10.
