Multiple members of the Queen of Me Tour crew, working for Shania Twain, have been hospitalized after a tour bus accident in Canada. Maverick Management, Twain's management company, confirmed in a statement on Wednesday, November 8, that one crew bus and one truck from the tour were involved in the accident while traveling between Winnipeg and Saskatoon. The statement explained that the accident was caused by dangerous weather conditions, resulting in multiple vehicles encountering difficulties. The crew members in need of medical attention have been transported to nearby hospitals.
Twain, who is 58 years old, was not affected by the crash. Maverick's statement expressed gratitude towards the emergency services teams for their prompt response and continuous support. The statement also requested patience as they took care of their touring family.
The accident took place the day after Twain's performance at the Canada Life Center in Winnipeg on Tuesday, November 7. As per her tour's website, the renowned country star is still scheduled to present her latest show in Saskatoon on Thursday, November 9.
Twain's latest tour has been traveling across the U.S., Europe, and Canada since April. She will conclude her tour with three additional stops in Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver before embarking on her third Las Vegas residency at the Bakkt Theater located at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on May 10, 2024.
During an interview with CBS Mornings in August, Twain expressed her excitement about the upcoming residency titled Come on Over - The Las Vegas Residency - All The Hits! She described it as a very special time for her, stating that she is happier than ever to be on stage. With a love for life and a passion for sharing her new music, she aims to bring inspiration and positivity to the audience.
She added: “All the hits will be on the show and hopefully we will just have a lot of fun together.” Her previous residencies ran from 2012 to 2014 and from 2019 to 2020.
Shania Twain, known for her international performances, has openly shared her battle with Lyme disease. She was infected in 2003 after a tick bite during horseback riding. In an interview with ITV's Loose Women in August 2020, she expressed her fear of never being able to sing again, as it took doctors several years to diagnose the issue affecting her voice.
In her 2022 Netflix documentary, titled Shania Twain: Not Just a Girl, the famous singer of "Any Man of Mine" opened up about the impact that the disease had on her career. She described her symptoms as scary, recounting how she experienced dizziness and a loss of balance while performing on stage before receiving her diagnosis. The fear of falling off the high stage was a constant worry for her.
Recently, Twain expressed her desire to establish a connection with another well-known Las Vegas figure, Celine Dion, in regards to coping with health issues while in the public eye. Dion, who is 55 years old, disclosed in 2022 that she had been diagnosed with a rare condition known as stiff-person syndrome, which affects motor function and results in muscle spasms.
"I believe it must be tremendously challenging, and speaking solely from my own personal experience, I comprehend the terror of feeling hindered from singing or having that sense of joy in one's life," Twain shared with Billboard in August. "Thus, I fervently hope that she finds the strength to conquer this obstacle and that she will grace us once more with her captivating voice on stage."
