Selena Gomez is taking another break from social media.

"I'm taking a break from social media," shared Gomez, 31, on her Instagram Story on Tuesday, January 9. "I'm concentrating on what's truly important."

Accompanying Gomez's message was a video of her boyfriend, Benny Blanco, with the sound of her laughter in the background. The 35-year-old music producer was seen making funny faces at the two kids they were spending time with.

Gomez's decision to take a break from social media comes after she gained attention at the Golden Globe Awards on January 7th for a popular video that captured her chatting with friends Taylor Swift and Keleigh Teller. Initially, some fans believed the trio was discussing the relationship between Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner, particularly after a video from the event appeared to show Teller saying "with Timothée." However, Gomez has since clarified the situation.

"I mentioned to Taylor about my two friends who got together," Gomez wrote in response to an E! News Instagram post about her conversation with Swift, 34, and Teller, 31. "But that's really no one's business."

Before Gomez's comment, a source told us after the Golden Globes that the former Disney Channel star "didn't interact with Kylie or Timothée at the Globes" and "there was never any drama" between them. (Gomez has experienced highs and lows with the Kardashian-Jenner family over the years, with fans suspecting there's lingering tension between them because of Jenner's friendship with Hailey Bieber.)

Chalamet, 28, was the first to break his silence on the situation, telling TMZ that “of course” there’s no bad blood between himself and Gomez.

Both Gomez and Chalamet were nominees at the Golden Globes, with Gomez recognized for her role in Only Murders in the Building and Chalamet nominated for playing the title role in Wonka. Despite this, they left the event without any awards. After the ceremony, Gomez appeared unfazed as she was seen getting cozy with Blanco.

Gomez proudly announced her victory with a caption on an Instagram Story she posted on Sunday night. The photo showed her sitting in Blanco's lap, sharing a sweet kiss. This is not the first time Gomez has taken a break from social media, having previously stepped away from Instagram for several days in October 2023, as well as on multiple occasions before that.

Gomez cited the need for a break from the "horror, hate, violence, and terror that's going on in the world," with many interpreting her statement as a reference to the war in Gaza.

"I apologize if my words are not sufficient for everyone or a hashtag," she expressed on Instagram. "I cannot just watch innocent people suffer. It makes me feel awful. I wish I could make a difference in the world. But a social media post won't do that. Love, Selena."

Gomez returned to the platform less than two weeks later.
