Selena Gomez has disabled comments on her social media, preventing fans and trolls from posting endless messages. This includes discussions about her ex Justin Bieber and his wife Hailey Bieber's recent pregnancy announcement.

On May 9, Justin and Hailey shared the news that they are expecting their first child. This led to a flood of posts on various social media platforms speculating on how Selena Gomez might be responding to the news.

Fans were not able to share their thoughts on Gomez's Instagram page. Despite being the most followed woman on Instagram at 31, the star has taken a step to keep her page troll-free. She now only allows her friends to comment on her posts.

"I disabled all comments on my Instagram photos just for my friends," she shared with Today before the Bieber news last week. "I believe setting these boundaries has been helpful for me. Of course, some people were upset about it. People tend to get upset about everything."

"I found a sense of empowerment in making that decision," she continued. "It felt good to declare, 'This is my space.'"

The singer-actress emphasized the importance of surrounding herself with her close circle, which includes her boyfriend Benny Blanco, whom she described as "wonderful." She believes that owning her power is crucial and that she is defined by the people she surrounds herself with.

Shortly after the Biebers announced their joyful news, the star of Only Murders in the Building shared a photo with Blanco, 36, on her Instagram Story.

The photo showed the couple holding hands and cuddling under a blanket in black-and-white. Gomez also posted a picture of her and Blanco with a group that included her Only Murders‘ costars Martin Short and Steve Martin.

The Wizards of Waverly Place star dated singer Justin, also known as "Peaches", on and off from 2010 to 2018. Hailey and Justin were first romantically linked in 2015 and had an on-and-off relationship until their engagement in 2018. They got married in September of that year.

Despite rumors of a long-standing feud between Selena and Hailey, the Rare Beauty founder has clarified that she does not have any issues with her.

Both women have supported each other, even when fans continued to spread rumors. In March 2023, Gomez shared on Instagram that Hailey Bieber had contacted her to reveal that she was receiving death threats and hateful messages. Gomez emphasized that she does not condone such negativity and believes that no one should have to endure hate or bullying.

During an episode of Bloomberg's "The Circuit With Emily Chang" in June, Hailey Bieber shared her thoughts. She emphasized that the situation was not about her, Selena Gomez, or any rivalry between them. Hailey expressed that the issue was really about the harmful and false narratives that can lead to intense hatred and division among people.

"It's frustrating how we have to keep repeating that there is no problem or issue. It's disheartening to see people act this way over something as trivial as a man. Sadly, this is the world we live in."

Editor's P/S:

Selena Gomez's decision to disable comments on her social media posts is a powerful statement about her self-care and boundaries. In an era where online discourse can be toxic and relentless, it's refreshing to see a public figure prioritize their own well-being. By limiting interaction to close connections, Gomez creates a safe space for self-expression and protects herself from the harmful effects of cyberbullying.

Moreover, Gomez's actions highlight the importance of responsible social media use. When platforms allow unfiltered and often anonymous commentary, it can foster a culture of negativity and judgment. Limiting unchecked communication can promote healthier interactions and reduce the potential for online harassment. This move aligns with Gomez's commitment to spreading positivity and supporting others who experience cyberbullying, as demonstrated by her public condemnation of online hate and her efforts to raise awareness about the issue.
