Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, who have been married for over two decades, continue to be deeply devoted to each other. However, the couple has made it clear that they have no intentions of renewing their vows, as they revealed during an episode of Live With Kelly and Mark on Thursday, June 15.
The author of Live Wire expressed a strong belief in superstitions surrounding vow renewals. They playfully suggested that reaffirming one's commitment to marriage can sometimes have negative consequences for the relationship. Ripa, in a humorous tone, added to the conversation by suggesting that a vow renewal should come with divorce papers, implying that it can be seen as a precursor to a potential separation.
The actor from Riverdale concurred, observing a growing trend of couples reaffirming their commitment through vow renewals following a mistake made by one partner, typically the husband. "And I'm not referring to something as trivial as leaving the toilet seat up," he humorously remarked.
The couple immediately dismissed the suggestion of staging a vow ceremony on Live when asked by executive producer Michael Gelman.
Ripa commemorated the milestone by sharing a throwback PDA photo on her Instagram Story, referring to Consuelos as the love of her life.
Following his debut episode, Consuelos felt completely comfortable with his wife by his side, as they officially introduced the new era of Live in April.
"It truly felt like home," he expressed. "I always feel a sense of belonging with Kelly, but working together this morning felt incredibly fitting. ... I consider myself extremely fortunate that we get to experience this on a daily basis."
Ripa, on the other hand, shared with Us that she had complete confidence in the Alpha House star's abilities in his new role. "I had no doubts about how well he would perform, and he truly exceeded my expectations," she praised. "I am immensely proud of him, but I never had any concerns. ... The advice I offered him was to remain true to himself, savor every moment, and stay present. He took it from there."
